Engine Prep questions.

1. Im not gay.
2. I did do a search.

Before heading onto 20 PSI and above plan to strip down the engine and check it out. Put in new pistons and rings, chk crank bearings con rods etc.

1. Any tips for piston prep or ring prep on a turbo install.
2. Any tips on what to do with the con rods. i.e. should I shot pean them ?.
3. Any specific tecture on the piston that works wel ?

Re: Engine Prep questions.

many engine builders reccomend you take some fine sandpaper and sand down any sharp edges on the face of the piston so you dont get hotspots. Ring gaps are different from turbo to n/a, youll need bigger gaps than stock. Shot peening the rods is a good strengthening measure, it helps somewhat.

Re: Engine Prep questions.

They say the ring lands are the first to go.
Any specifics like ring land next to exhaust valve etc.

Ok standard bike stuff.

Emery the sharp edges of the rings.
Polish piston tops to a smooth mirror finish. Then Sand with a roughf papper so the ceramic coatings get a good grip with the metal.
THen weigh each piston and make sure they all weigh within 1 gram of each other.
Grind off sharp edges.
Radius the skirt edge.

THis is what Ive paned in the absence of any better info.
