end of an era

hey im not sure if many of you follow sports but heres something i wrote off the cuff

so im sitting here watching game 6 and watching indys lead deteriorate
im having flashbacks to all of the things reggie miller did to them in the playoffs, I hated him so much back then
fast forward to this season, the knicks are completely revamped, no ewing no starks no grand mama
not even camby or charlie ward, two of my personal favorites
the knicks are in the basement and the pacers are in the playoffs
part of me is pulling for shaq and the heat just to spite kobe
honestly I don’t see anyone getting past the heat but im hopeful
im pulling for reggie miller, maybe not 100% but theres definately a part of me that would like to see them pull it off
its now 77-72 detroit with about 4 and half minutes to play and it looks like the end of an era
reggie miller has played his entire career in indianna
in an era where players sell out to the highest bidder on a regular basis miller has stayed through it all
even gary payton and karl malone sold out to join the lakers last season to try and pull down a ring, I pulled for malone a little but the fact that miller has been a pacer for life is much more respectable
so, how much does a ring mean?
Marino never won one, he stayed in miami for the duration
it didnt look like elway would but he did
they just showed the game where miller scored all those points against the knicks in like 8 seconds
bittersweet

so im rambling now but I just wanted to show a little respect for a great player and a great person, even if he was a knick killer
78-74 detroit 3:19 left
lets go reggie

82-79 detroit 1:16 and its pacers ball

84-79 under a minute

86-79

looks like its over
:(

15 seconds left and reggie comes out
detroit coach larry brown takes a 20 to let the crowd give reggie an ovation
the pistons are up and clapping

I was 13 in 95 when reggie single handedly beat the knicks and I felt like crying
tonight I feel like crying again but it’s a different kind

try not to make fun of me too much

Never liked Reggie but that was cool of everyone to give him the ovation, he had a great career. Now go watch the Sonics beat the Spurs!

I remember that game you're talking about. It was still whenever NBC would show NBA games on Sundays. I loved every second of that finish. Just to watch him go to work and demand the ball and put the knife in the hearts of the Knicks was spectacular. I would have to say one the greatest ends of a game I have ever seen.
