Is there a huge difference? If so which one is better?

the mechanical can be more accurate that a digital for the needle doesnt lie.

well the electrical gauges have needles to, is it a lot hard to hook up mechanical gauges?

With the exception of speed meters mechanical gages are the most accurate.

so what are "full sweep electrical gauges" such as the autometer cobalt series

Think of the Cobalts as a Rolex.Other gages are just a Timex.

If you have the cash.Autometer gages in general are pretty good.Just regular ones would serve the purpose.As long as you dont get some gay ass Ractive,or APC or some ---- like that.
