EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

I was poking around on E-Gay and found a pack that has front and rear lower tie bars and front and rear strut tower bars for 36 bucks for my CRX. Yes I know you get what you pay for but still thats a ------- hella good deal. I was sort of thinking if those would do anything at all I might buy them and then replace them one by one with quality parts when I have the money. Anyone ever buy one or feel like flaming me for wanting to buy egay parts?

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

I knew a kid who bought them, he said they didnt work too bad at all. Better than stock anyways.

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

the best "homemade tie bar" that i used to see that the autcrossers did, take a steel rod, about 1" in diamenter and weld it between your strut towers. works better than anything. and 99% of the time, you can find a "scrap peice" at your local scrap metal yard for a few dollars. (the price of metal)

That's a pretty good deal for everything. Always check the shipping charge, sometimes some egayers will put a really low buy it now price, and charge you a ton for shipping. Mike your deal looks pretty good anyways, although you know it doesn't take $45 to ship that out, but the total price is pretty good

Yeah I figured in the total price before I bought it. $110 aint bad at all. Iam also going to paint the red and silver bars flat black. Iam not into the bling bling. Reminds me I need to paint my CAI black too.

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

Damn, they don't have the H Brace for the CRX but I think ill still go with the tie bar kit. Its pretty much half the price anyways. It comes out to be only like 60 shipped or something.

damnit...what the hell is an "h" brace

Cray91 10-26-2004 03:24 PM

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

All of the ones posted are useless. They all have pivot points. That will just make the car parralelogram, gather than stiffen anything.

Its the brace that comes in some of the E-Bay kits. I'd never seen one like it till now so I bet its an ebay creation.

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

I have the ones that have a pivot point like the ones in the picture. This is in a eg coupe. They are worthless. I can't tell the difference at all. What you want are front and rear sway bars. Those make your car's attitude in corners much more flat.

i dont know that theyre"worthles" but if you want to feel a real difference follow will's advice.

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

I got this for my new EG8. It's a knock off Moooogen FST but it's burley as hell and looks nice with the bare SS look and welds still showing. It's a little more than the other egay bars but there's no pivot points and I couldn't even flex it pulling on it under my knee.

guess i have to break out the welder once i get them tightened down and take away those "pivot points".

bmaca455 10-27-2004 04:00 AM

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

Now what type of pivot points are we talking about as bad. Side to side or up and down? I know for the lower tie bars if they can go up and down when the holes are vertical its fine. For the upper ones thats a problem. Mabey then I'll have to replace the top ones with quality parts, but I would probley end up doing that anyways.

Cray91 10-27-2004 04:16 AM

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

The lower ones are fine to have pivot and adjusment points. The upper ones, Tower bars, can't have em. Ideally you want to have to use a sledge hammer to get em over the studs.

Yeah. I think I'll order um up and then see what the joints look like. I'll probley intall up loose then see if I can lay a nasty bead in and around those joints to see If I can lock um in place.

Re:EGAY Strut/Tie Bars

I think you better off just buying the quality part.

I would but I am on a very tight budget right now.
Pretty much I have 400 bucks to finish my turbo set up and do a little bit more brake and suspension work.
