so my 2wd beaner f150 project turned into a real project the other day when a washer from the previous owner found it's way into a combo chamber.

i didn't feel like getting headwork done, so to took the head, welded a steel ring made from flat stock to a kant-twist clamp: pic below of one

to make a true hmt spring compressor, and it works very well. these clamps have massive clearance for heads, and i just laid a wood block between the valve and lower jaw to do it.
it's safer than doing it on block and dropping a valve past the guide and having to pull the head anyway.

so i get the DA sander out after i chipped off the old gaskets, pop a 320 grit on and go to town. had intake/exhaust port faces, and hg face polished basically.
switched the air comp line over to the die grinder, did some port cleanup, smoothed em out a bit.

felpro gaskets all around, nevr seez'd all bolt holes

long story short, you'll melt your engine before the never seez starts to break down

bolted the intake/exhaust on the head, heaved the 130lbs of cast iron into the engine bay, torqued it all down, bolted the accessories back on, wired it up, etc.

went from one outlet for 6 cyls, to 2 outlets carrying 3 cyls.

stock compression of 8.5, with the head from a 87+ efi 4.9, takes me calculated to around 9.3-9.4 via compression guage.

so like 15hp gains estimated, and sweet open exhaust, and overly rich neighborhood smoke screens

went from a lame ass 2" pipe to dual 2.25", into 2.5" after the merge, into a glassless glasspack, and 3.5" cummins dodge ram tailpipe

i'll get the pics/vids on here when i find my CF card docking bay, 10 second 0-60 ftw!

damn. N/A and 8.5:1 is ultra weak. I guess ford wanted it to run on 70 octane? When are you gonna boost it? Even 9.5:1 can use some help.

the swap was to make it easier to boost, in the future when i get a reliable second vehicle, because all my shits broken again.

efi motor made 145hp at 3600, and 290 ft lbs at 2200-2400.

i'm about 25hp less and 40 ft lbs less, with the head swap. stock carb motors blow balls more than ricers blow d series, but a nice fat t4 will fit this motor good.
