EF big brakes a different way

2 Attachment(s)
I got these RX7 4 piston aluminum calipers off of Ebay for $23... Cleaned em up , ground off the ""mazda" painted them red to make em look Brembo Baller.
Attachment 19980

The spindls are from a 90 integra the pic was with stock rotors..

Attachment 19981

But I also found that a redrilled Sentra SER SPec V will fit the spindle with no clearence issues...

not sure if I am gonna go with the integra rotors or the spec V rotors (3 times the cost)

Next up I am going to make an adapter from some 1/4" plate using the plasma..

these are going on an 89 Si I am building for the GRM $2008 Challenge

Between the 2 integra rotors , Spindles and RX7 calipers I have less than $60 in the entire front setup...

JM
00 TDI
89 Si Z6 , T3 , Starion , vitara's...just need to put it all together

Re: EF big brakes a different way

I bought supra calipers to do this exact same thing. I haven't found any larger rotors though that fit.

Re: EF big brakes a different way

No , they don't bolt up , I am gonna make an adaptor out of some plate 1/4" steel using plasma.

still don't know if it's gonna work out..

If not I will just sell the calipers.. no huge loss...

judging by the area that the caliper covers (or doesn't) looks liek I am gonna have to use Spec V rotors..

Re: EF big brakes a different way

here is an easier way and be safe while doing this..

all you need are any bigger factory HONDA/ACURA caliper and pick what rotors you want to use.. it will save you machineing time and headaches

This is for the GRM $2008 Challenge... I can only spend $2008 on the car...

what rotors does tha kit use?? i may be able to mix / match bastardize some stuff..

2 RX7 calipers weigh the same as one integra caliper.

Re: EF big brakes a different way

you might want to look into getting a bigger MC using those 4 piston units. Cool project though.

no idea on mileage , gonna dis-assemble it completley , have it cleaned and checked out.. drop in some vitara's and yadda yadda yadda.. same as most other D series builds.

Re: EF big brakes a different way

prelude v-tec calipers, brackets and pads, integra rotors and a 3mm spacer between the rotor and hub. more brakes than an EF needs. and no fab work ;)

Re: EF big brakes a different way

+1. If you could find some, some Legend Type-2 calipers are even an upgrade for 4th gen Pigludes, would be way more than enough for your car. :6
