Im still around guys its jsut been a while. I jsut purchased a 1990 Mitsu Eclipse GST for 500 bucks the car has been sitting for a while and i cant seem to get it started. I drained the old fuel out, added a bottle of heet and sprayed some starter fluid intot the TB. The car turns over but wont start for anything. Anyone have any suggestions? as far as i know the car was running until the ecu was fried and then the old owner replaced the ecu and hasnt started it since. The car has 213k miles on it and has been sitting for months.

I havent pulled the return line yet to see if the fuel is reaching the injectors. i was reading the manual and the line they say is the return line is actually the supply line because the fuel filter is inline with it so im guessing the return like is the runnber hose under the fpr. As far as spark goes i jsut need to have a plug pulled when i try and crank it to see if its firing right? the only problem is i dont have two people to do that. so there has to be another way.

is timing off at all? fuel pump? just check everything lol. i hate when you get other peoples problems because you have no idea what really went wrong untill you fix it.

spray plug and engine bay with gas, crank with plug grounded to engine somewhere. if your engine bay catches on fire, you got spark

Those ECU's have a history of some of the caps leaking on the board and ruining the owners day.

im feelin that one right nowim gonna check the return line tomorrow after work and if thats good then ill check ignition

I just found out that the gas filler neck is cracked and leaking so im thinking of going a completely different route. Im thinking of redoing the whole fuel system using a fuel cell and running new supply,vapor, and return lines. All i need is a cell, pump, fuel filter, and the lines right there shouldnt be anything else. then all i have to do is wire the pump into the stock circuit. also i was wondering if fuel cells come with a fuel sending unit if not ill have to figure something out for that. After that the fuel should have no problem getting to the engine. then i can focus on the ignition system.

I have new plugs and wires ready to go in but i need to know how the coil is doing of if it needs to be replaced ill test that hopefully tomorrow. i probably should replace it seeing as how it appears to be the original unit. In the DIS (Distributorless ignition system) system the ECM sends the signal to the coil and then to the plugs right? Assuming that both the crank and cam position sensors are bad would that prevent the engine from starting in limp mode? Also the eclipse ignition system is equipped with a ignition power transistor, if this goes bad then the engine wont start correct?
