i was wondering if anyone risked buying and then using one of these cheap catch cans? there only $25.00 shipped ...about the same that you can make your own for if you dont ---- up some how. any comments would be great......buy one or make my own? or know of any good cheap ones please post.

buy it, it's just a can, you would be paying for brand name for another one. and for the same price you'll have one all ready to install not needing to be made.

basically my thoughts exacaully plus im a lazy ---- and dont way to drive around town picking up parts to make one unless some one where to give me a good reason to do so.

I got one............. great quality........... really................ I have my valve cover breather hole connected to it then over to the intake on the turbo which equals no crankcase pressure.........

just buy it ........... thats expensive though ............$25.00 I got mine for $19.00 usd.......... haha

I'll second that-- just bought a Husky brand one from Home depot-- $20 but it will work better than just a catch can because its actually designed to take liquid out of pressurized air, instead of air just blowing in one side of a can and out the other while maybe depositing some oil inside the can. just my opinion though

isnt the husky one made of plastic.....is there any chance of the plastic warping in the end in the end cracking from high heat. i have a 02 nissan spec-v. when turbo'd they have some cooling issues that will have to be worked on but for now i can't even have my valve cover on other wise it would have a warped piece of plastic to have to deal with. and my catch can really wont fit anywhere except right next to my charge pipe and breather valve. right next to basically alot of heat. i just was wondering if that would be an issue? if the huskey on from home depot is made to remove liquid from air then how are the greddy ones made....the same shitty way based off gravity and hoping it just falls into the can? maybe im missing something. i mean yeh its just a catch can but. i would find out what works better and spend my money once then find out later and have to buy something different when i can just find out in the begining. all opinions and comments are welcomed and encouaged.

The husky one has a plastic casing, but its a pretty hard plastic i don't think you'd have problem with-- the actual oil catch part is glass. But if you still wanted an oil/water separator filter thing check out ebay and search for air compressor filter or something, there is some higher quality ones that are probably all metal. I think the higher end catch cans are baffled (or they should be) to remove more oil by disrupting the air flow. Some people stuff steel wool mesh stuff inside their cheaper cans to filter out the oil, but just make sure theres no way pieces could break off and get sucked into your turbo (maybe have it wrapped in screen or something?)

and no you don't have to hollow out your pcv valve-- you just have to set up the system differently-- check out the 2nd pcv diagram in the turbo guide at www.beesandgoats.com. Thats the easiest way to do it.
