Yeah, that looks really wierd... Wonder how they really are... Notice the bidding is only at like $46.00 ::)

jeff showed me some guy who was making those.. they were prototypes i wonder if its him.

it forgot to mention if its a D or a B series

HMT-Admin 06-29-2003 06:10 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

Beleive its D-series... we have a member on the board who was making those, that I posted pics awhile back, pretty neat design.

Jeff

must weigh a god dam tton

Xgenturbo 06-29-2003 06:15 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

dont weigh ---- when youre at 5000rpm at 20 psi and the ferrari is behind you, lol :P

fiero_god 06-30-2003 12:07 AM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

lol weigh a ton i doubt it ,it is made of billet steel. Billet is very light and a bitch to machine ,you should see how light billet aluminum and titanium is.

steedspeed 06-30-2003 12:28 AM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

It weighs 11.5 pounds and spools real fast!

So ur the one who made this?

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

it seems like you would have clearance issues

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

I don't want to talk ---- about this manifold, but the design looks to me like a big heatsink. The best manifold, in theory, is the one that gets the most heat (energy) to the turbo, right? I may be wrong.

Todd 06-30-2003 02:36 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

I really like the design.. You will get plenty of heat to the turbo. and its just sweet looking. it probably does not weigh much more than a log manifold. I would guess 10-15.. if they say 11lbs I buy it. Very nice. Up to $150 now.

steedspeed 07-06-2003 11:03 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

No problems with heat sink, the manifold is ceramic coated. I am going to try making one from aluminum to speed up the machining process and make it lighter for performance and shipping. You won't find a faster spooling manifold. If you want to see more you can go to the website www.steedspeed.com and use the VRML animation to examine it closely. The VRML is derived from the CAD file which was used to design this manifold. You can look at the top half or the bottom half or both together (very cool!). No clearance probs, just wanted to swing the T3 forward to get the most direct shot into the turbine housing. It also allows you to keep the AC. I just put it on Ebay to see what people thought, cheap publicity for $11!! You will be seeing it in a magazine very soon, just gotta send em some more pics and a blurb.

nifty. aluminum? what about the heat?

steedspeed 07-06-2003 11:14 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

Yeah really, what about the heat? Dunno!, just gonna try it and see what happens.

B series coming next! Then the Ecotech

OnYx 07-06-2003 11:36 PM

ill test the b series out;)

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

Bidding closed at $305.01 with the reserve not met.
So it was just publicity and not really for sell?
What is the retail price on these?
I think the internal pic does some justice:

At the top of the pictures page is the link to the animation. it shows everything really clearly.

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

looks real nice... guess a crx would need a the half sized radiator for clearance, but that's sweet.

steedspeed 07-07-2003 08:24 PM

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

I'm not sure about the CRX but it fits my 1990 Civic fine and it lets you keep the AC compressor. I can probably make a smaller version based on the upcoming B series which will fit a CRX. As it is I wanted to keep the runners fairly straight for fast spooling and good flow. If you take a look at the VRML on the site you will see that you can look right through the manifold through any of the inlets! I guess it's not for everyone and some people are always going to be tied to the old idea that you need equal lengths of bent pipe for the best performance. Maybe those people should talk to Kenny Tran cos he ditched his.

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

Can you make one without the "SS" logo on it? It kinda makes it sound like its for a Mustang. Maybe put engine codes on the flat part, like offer one that says D16Z6, and you could stylize that. Just some thoughts. I do like it though.

The name is Steed and it's built for speed. If you send me tons of cash I can mill your name, or your girlfriends name/chest measurement or whatever!

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

I want my chest measurement on mine!!!! :D

Can you mil a picture of the Kool-Aid guy on it busting through the manifold, that would freakin rock! You do that, and I'll buy it for sure! It's Kool-Aid time muhfuckas!!

I think I'm going to change my quote to "It's Kool-Aid time muhfuckas!". Would that be alright? I wish thats what they said on the commercials.

Is Kook-Aid like some crazy-ass Kool-Aid rip off drink? Screw that man! If you can't afford the 19 cents to buy some real Kool-Aid then it ain't even worth it! Na mean?

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

Just got the latest CAD revisions done. Shorter with a weight of 8.516 puonds (approximate LOL!) I'm going to run off a batch of 10 manifolds if anyone is interested in them let me know. If you can get 5 of you to go for it I will let em go for cost to home made turbo guys. :o

Re:Ebay manifold-Ever seen one of these?

thats a cool idea.. now to make an equal length one hah, what is the melting point of aluminum? i thought aluminum adaptor plates melted... i guess they use some high heat alloy.
