Re: dus any one know ---- about RX7
if your going to get an RX7 atleast get a turbo model, I fucked up and bought a non-turbo bc I had too (time and tight on money). The non-turbo is a waste of time, but the turbo on the other hand well.........its got potential

if you want decent fast off the get go then yes get the turbo model, or you could get a ported N/A model, depending on the port they have some go too.. i've had 3 so far, and a buddy of mine does nothing but build RX-7's, he had a 450HP TII a while ago and that ****** was fast i wanted to drive the FD he was building but he didnt get it finished before i moved.. he's also bastardizeing one of his FD's and swapping in a supercharged LS1
the thing about rotarys is maintinence, just pretend its a turbo honda and keep that ---- in line and you'll be fine lol
and rotarys dont like heat but they can take it, i accidently drove one of mine with no oil for about 20 miles ran fine afterwards for 4 months untill i traded for somethin new

RX7's are awesome to drive. They are not as reliable as piston engines by any means but with a good tuner they make fantastic power and will last.Alot of people bash on them but seem to over look the fact they have a stout record in racing and a mildly modifed 3rd gen RX7 will hang with just about anything on a race track. For a daily driver I would not get a high hp RX7 as they require more upkeep, maintenance etc and you dont sound like you really know what your doing so I would not recommend you buy one.

an N/A rotary motor can go almost 300K or more with no rebuilds and proper maintinence (i had one, with an original motor past 300K and it ran flawlessly, so dont try to say i dont know what im talkin about)
and a turbo rotary can goto 250K without a rebuild if the person who owns it actualy cares about it and does the required upkeep
it's just like any other car, without proper maintinence it'll go to ----, and most of the people that have RX-7's and blow there motors before 100K are either morons who dont do the required upkeep or are people trying to pull more out of the motor without knowing what there doing
as far as redlineing at 13K, that's for a built and balanced motor, most stock rotarys would probably shake apart past 9K because the rotors arent balanced well enough to rev that high without vibration which as you know (if you have common sense) is a bad thing in a motor

FACT: ANY car requires mantinence, a rotary is no exception and doesnt require anything special mantinence wise
FACT: boob's who cant keep up with the mantinence shouldnt own RX-7's in the first place or any other car for that matter

so basicly your argument is you should be able to beat on your car all the time and never have to do any upkeep on it? cause i dont think that'll happen.. rotarys are just as reliable, they just take a more mantinence motivated person to own them and keep them running instead of someone who wants to beat on a car and then not do anything to keep it running
