dual walbro pumps
I know its in the wrong section ist off, but I wanted quick response, so please .
I am trying to run dual walbro pumps already ordered the second pump. I was wondering if anyone know of anyone who has done this using the stock mount plate, the full-blown kit is $300 I have great credit with a fat card but I am not rich so its too much for me to pay for small machined part, if I had easy access to the parts I would make my own. the kit also require upgrading the fuel line to atleast 8 an feed, and 6 an return, I would like to do this but don't think its a must to reach my goal. for those who will ask why do I require this much fuel . my goal is 600+whp , I know people probably done it on a single pump, but I am trying to be safe. also if I go with this full blown mounting kit, where is the cheapest place to buy 10ft of 8 an line, and 10ft of 6an? |
Re: dual walbro pumps

Re: dual walbro pumps
the setup he did looks very low like it does not sit in the original spot in the tank. but then again he have a different car, I will experiment with mine before I waste my money on the full-blown, maybe I can use a bulkhead fitting to turn the stock mounting to run dual, or just get a good Y fitting. I think its possible I just don't have the second pump yet so I can test.

I just wish I have atleast a second stock pump so I can test mounting it now |
Re: dual walbro pumps
Just run another Walbro inline if you just want to play it "safe" and/or inject some meth or water/meth to help fatten up your AFRs as an added layer of protection.

Re: dual walbro pumps
I am starting to think that I an be safe with just a single walbro, maybe I should just upgrade my fuel lines and keep a single intank.
since I've already bought the second walbro I will just keep for backup incase the one I have installed failed. I had this pump for 5 years and I bought it used off ebay, so who knows when it will go, my friend with a srt4 already been through 2 walbros already. |
Re: dual walbro pumps
Food for thought.... I was at my buddies dyno shop a couple weeks back and we got on the topic of single fuel pump vs 2 or 3 fuel pumps. I had no reason to counter his reasoning about going with a single pump.
His thoughts are... When running 2 pumps to "be safe", When 1 pump fails, the other pump will still supply enough fuel so that you can melt your engine into 1 piece quite quickly and easily. Now if you were to run 1 pump and have it fail, it would go SOO lean that the engine would snuff itself out, thus causing little to no damage at all. He has expericenced both on his dyno, both as in both types of failures. |

I love to drive it. I am confused on a couple of subjects like ignition setups, and the single walbro v/s dual but I will figure it out.

Re: dual walbro pumps
I havent hit 600whp yet, so I don't know, I don't want to wait till I get there to find out.
when I blew my motor I was at 83 % injector duty cycle at 23 psi of boost not sure how much power it was, since it was a street tune pump gas afr 11.5. |
Re: dual walbro pumps
255 lph (liters per hour) = 4250cc per minute.
If you are maxing out 4 1000cc/min injectors at 100% duty cycle...figuratively you cant max out the flow of that pump. I doubt upgrading your lines will do anything...its like upgrading your fuel rail because you think the stockers don't flow as well as an aftermarket :) |
Re: dual walbro pumps
I'll take it since you are an experienced tuner, and know what you are talking about, I'll save myself some money and time and stick to one pump until I need to upgrade.
