DSLR Help?

DSLR Help?
So I don't know ---- about what brand is better than what, or what to look for, or any of that crap when purchasing a DSLR. I know a few of you here have those baller-cams, have any suggestions on a good value? I don't need all the craziest features, just something reasonably priced that will take great pictures and be able to do whatever I want with it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: DSLR Help?
I am going to be picking up a Pentax in the next few days. Probably a K10D... its the big brother to the K100D Super which is also a baller camera. For the price the new K series Pentax's have WAAAY more value than comparably priced Nikons, Canons, Sonys. For what you claim you want... I say go with the K100D Super.
----Pentax K100D super 450ish (body only NEW form Amazon) - 100 holiday rebate from Pentax = 350
----Pentax Kit lenses / Tamron / Sigma / Phoenix - Looking at around 75ish to 200 for something with lots of versatility depending on reputation of lenses and name brand.
So basically you get a 450 camera that kicks the ---- outta the $600 competition. (This coming from a guy with a strong Canon background until recently.)
(BTW Pentax cameras are compatible with every other Pentax lenses EVER made (K-mount))
whoops- except the screw types which just require a 30 dollar adapter.

Re: DSLR Help?
DSLR is just a SLR that is digital
I personally only shoot Nikon, look for sales to make the deal even sweeter. They often run rebates on their website too!
The D50 is a great camera, definately good for beginners!
EDIT:
If you want something that will be very versatile, and cheaper than a true dSLR look at the Nikon 8400, 8700, and 8800. There are some special lenses you can use with these which make them more dSLR-like, but they are a little easier to use. You can still shoot in a true manual mode or simple point & shoot if you so choose (or if you want someone to take a photo with you in it). I used to own the 8800 and absolutely loved it. Bought it a couple years ago for 760, had a 100 rebate, and after shooting a few thousand photos (quite literally) I sold it for 500 dollars. Nikons really do hold their value!

Re: DSLR Help?
do your research first. Don't jsut buy a DLSR because it's a DSLR. They are the biggest hype right now. Find out what makes it great.
We started off with the Canon Rebel XT, GREAT beginner camera. Once you learn HDR it's a whole new world as well.
HDR(high dynamic range)

Re: DSLR Help?
Both the Pentex and the Nikon are good cameras and hold there value well. I like the pentex better for every day shots but the nikon kicks *** for action shots and rapid sequence shots. Can't really go wrong with either one. I'd stay away from sony and cannon as they are more of a point and shoot camera and don't do to well for anything else.
