I've been sticking with the DVDRips. I got Miami Vice and it worked out really well. Got the AVI to DVD converter and the burn software. Worked out OK. What is the best?

What is best is a couple of boxes networked together via poor man's KVM aka remote desktop connection.

I save all my downloads into one of the other boxes across the network, and use RDC to kick one of the other boxes into crunching stuffs into DVD so the comp I'm on isn't laggy. I don't do that much since my DVD player reads .avi,. mpg, etc files in raw UDF, only for people who want copies to play on their DVD players.

I'm playing around right now with running one of the boxes to the TV, old school composite out affair, but I'm not very happy with the resolution so it's irritating to surf and only does a decent job with low quality movies or retro games. Probably going to go with one of the HDTVs in the near future.

Those seem to slow connection speed and computer speed down. I prefer http://utorrent.com/ personallyl.

I'm not really up on all the standards, rawr, I just know what I have and what is cheap... I'm a regular junkyard master, right? Is s-video much different from composite?

I figure with the HDTVs or plasma screens I should get enough resolution to read default size text on a computer desktop, because I sure as hell can't with 320X240 on a 32" tube.

You can easily, but the tv fights it, trys to resize it and hates the refresh rate so it looks all shitty and shakey. s video isn't much different than composite. HDMI is OMGHIGHDEFF baller ---- for tv's you should know what dvi is. It's my friends dads ----, I just wanted to play unreal on a really big screen so i bought the 15 dollar cable from newegg.

Eh, sounds like the video card is fighting the TV as much as vice versa. at a vI'm pretty sure the Radeon X850 Pro will handle it; it also correctly handles the Innovatek 7.2" touchscreen at a variety of refresh rates without rastering, glitching, or needing to beat on Powerstrip for an hour first, regardless of what resolution I set it to; even for the non-native resolutions ie anything other than 800X480. I could be entirely completely wrong about that, but it's a similar if not exact comparison.

not the graphics card, tried it on 3 different machines, one 7950gtx, 6800gt agp and 6800gt pci-e
