Re: double clutching at its best
not a true double clutch action more of slipin the synchros
|
Re: double clutching at its best
Looks good to me. Getting the main shaft up to speed for the down shift so the synchros to have to work so hard to get it up to speed. At least thats what i would assume. Smoother transition and less transmission wear.

Re: double clutching at its best
so i was wathcing this video and saw what i thought was some homo drift clip on the side panel there.
but this ---- is pretty ------- sick. the gates sound sick >:D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTs2aORTdR0&NR=1 |
Re: double clutching at its best
Hmmmm?
That isn't "double clutching", double clutching comes from sprung hub centric friction plates, or multiple plate clutches; where you need to clutch once to disengage and again to engage. That's just rev matching, which is something anyone in road racing, or carting knows to do. Or mostly anyone who knows how a clutch works, it's why heel toe downshifting gives you smoother transition lines. |
Re: double clutching at its best
i double clutch downshift all the time, saves the clutch if done properly
|
Re: double clutching at its best
i think we had a debate about this last year...

Double-clutching traditionally is where you need to clutch once to disengage and once again to engage. |

Clutched to disengage and again to engage.... Transmissions with synchronizers don't necessarily need you to do this, but it makes for smoother shifting. I'm just waiting for Bone to come say his bit. |
Re: double clutching at its best
I've always thought that was double clutching...

Re: double clutching at its best
The only true double clutch is the DSG tranny used by VAG. DSM will soon use their one design in the new Evo. The only thing worth a ---- from VAG is that DSG transmission. Too bad their motor and cars are ----.

Re: double clutching at its best
It could be Korean, VAG owns it though. They used it in one of the earlier Lamborghini models, I cant remember which.
