Well. 50% of them start out that way, the rest are power hungry ---- licks.

Of the 50% that start out good, dude it is a hard job. I watched a friend who was fine his first six months on the job change after he ended up first on the scene where some woman had killed herself. He was pretty fucked up by it, took two weeks off work, etc. The second time around was 3-4 months later, he got to help out on a scene where some teenage girl had gotten killed by a jealous boyfriend. He was ------- flaky for 2-3 days. Started wearing sunglasses all the time, even inside. Started smoking. Drinking. Hanging out with his cop friends to exclusion of his other friends. Who he is now isn't bad, exaclty, but he lacks any compassion now. I ran into him 9 months back and he was almost himself for 30 whole seconds before he shut off and became Officer Cockstrong again. I dunno, it's sad.

How else is he supposed to hold up when his job, 12+ hours a day, is to intervene with the dregs of society and is called to every fucked up situation known to man? How do you really expect a cop to act? I know I wouldn't care to walk that path, past that I try to avoid judgement on that whole bit.

i completely agree. the asshat cop mentality is in some cases a necessary evil. and a lot of them get into it because they really do want to help the community, but that doesn't last long.

however, unless i'm being held at gunpoint or something similar, i would rather have nothing to do with a cop because unless you're an OBVIOUS victim of a crime, a cop sees you as nothing but a probable criminal.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with cops.. I had my window broken, called the cops to get a report for insurance, the cop that showed up 3 hours later had an attitude really pissed me off. i get pulled over all the damn time because im a young black guy driving a expensive car. There are still some nice cops out there, just haven't met a lot

very well said. i have a ton of respect for cops, they have a very hard job, and a few bad ones ruin your outlook for the rest of them.
