Done with boost for a while...going back to N/A :(

Well, after the past two week's headaches, heartaches, and just bad luck, i'm going back to the n/a side of the force. Popped my LS last night and thought it was only a headgasket at first (no big deal...took me about 30 minutes to yank everything including the head off) until i lifted the head off and saw this in cylinder #4...Attachment 34648
Nothing like a big fat crack in both the inner and outer sleeves to ruin your fun. So for now i'm just gonna do what every other homo around me does...order up a B16a to drop in and leave it alone...no boost. If the LS block is any good though, i'm gonna see about having it sleeved so maybe next year I can have a fully built motor and a decent turbo setup to go back in...and on the plus side I'll also have a b16 head for some ls/vtec turbo fun :) This def. blows chunks...took me about 5 months just to build this from the ground up, and i think i'm lucky if i got 5 weeks out of it :3Attachment 34649 Here's the car from the side...Attachment 34650Hopefully i can get something else going for her...she's been sitting too long already :'( |

Re: Done with boost for a while...going back to N/A :(
Yeah she did...huge is an understatement...that pic does no justice...the top of the sleeve actually seperated by 1/8th inch :S

Re: Done with boost for a while...going back to N/A :(
Was only hittin around 10 psi off a 16g...either detonation or just old age ownz my ass. It was a mystery motor that i picked up for $300 with unknown mileage, so who knows :-\
