Although the Nova was not originally available with a V8 option, the engine bay was perfectly proportioned for one. It wasn't long before Chevrolet V8s were offered as dealer-installed options (between 1962 and 1963), up to and including the fuel-injected version available in the Corvette. The combination of readily available V8 power and light weight made the Nova a popular choice of drag racers.

For 1963, the Chevy II Nova Super Sport was released. As mentioned above, Novas could not "officially" have V8 engines at this time — the standard SS engine was the six-cylinder — but many ended up with a small-block V8 under the hood.

In 1962 and 1963 the Nova was available in a convertible body style, and a two-door hardtop was added for 1963-65

my 62 2 door post originally came with a straight 6, but now has a semi built 327, i think because they were made for the v8's but some emission or government ---- made them put the 6's in there?

Here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Small-Block_engine

Yeah, I'm just pulling it out of my ass now.

ANd my comment was that they didn't come w/ 350's. 1962-63's Which they didn't. Everything else is moot.

Truthfully, I thought it came out in the 67 Camaro first. 67 is still not 62-63. Semantics pure and simple.

Find more info if you can though, I'm always interested in learning something new.

*EDIT*
I was right the SS-350 Camaro was the first 350 made. It was an option for the 67. I apoligize for the misinformation as far as that is concerned.

find more info? its in my brain.

this is the problem when you rely on solely on the interweb for your information

i believe 1969 is the first year the corvette got the 350cid engine

1967 is the first year for the 350cid chevy v8 engine, introducted in the camaro i believe

EDIT read above.

And as far as the in your head statement goes. That doesn't make it fact either. People can misinterpret things, your 'facts' are based solely on how your brain interprets it.

Bask in the glory of being right for once. :P

I can't wait for 20 years from now when douchebags argue whether the del sol came with an optional dual overhead cam or not and whether it was from 92-95 and 93-97. Or man that chevy cobalt ss totally came with a 2.4l supercharged cavalier engine. no way dude, that wasn't an ecotec, it was a supertec ultra super hp monster beast engine that could rape any car evar. man there wasn't a factory option to have a supercharger, you had to buy it and install it yourself because the mad tyte jdm xtreme horsepower the supercharger made wasn't street legal. :8 :8 :8 :8 :8
