ATI is very reputable. If you take a look at the Hot Rod Magazine stuff, they sponsor a lot of their events, Drag Week, Pump Gas Drags, etc. They won't be going anywhere. Definately not a fly by night operation.

looking at thier site i noticed they are at events EVERY weekend, nationwide, and they go to SEMA. thier site seems very professional and not full of hype so thats a plus.

anyone else??

i sent in my resume a little while ago, hopefully they at least interview me, a piece of paper really doesnt sell who you are. they have posted the position 2 times now so they seem to really need the help.

Get the job, and I'll let you lay your employee discount on the trans work and torque converter for Wes' 408/C6 GT45 project. And then you can have a ride in it. :)

Good luck man. Sounds like a pretty cool job!

Can C4 handle 1200+ whp? Someone somewhere will give Wes a block that can handle it at some point, and I'd just as soon have him set up with the good stuff from the get go.

I was also figuring he'd pay Cooks or whomever to build the C6, he's being given a lot of this stuff at bargain basement prices so he can afford to pay a dollar out here and there.

Im assuming you know I gave him my 351Windsor w/the C6 tranny, your probably right about the C4, I wasnt aware of any 1200whp goals, the last number I heard was 750-800.

Wanna try and split that windsor in two??? >:D

well i got an interview :D tomorrow @ 10am. the woman i talked with said if I bust my ass i can advance quickly and this can be a very well paying career. she was quite suprised that i am going to be taking a $20k/yr paycut to start working with them (if i get hired) at least she knows this is something i want to do its not just another job.

Re: domestic guys, need input on a shop/manufacturer

Well, yeah, the goal for that engine is 750-800. I don't think I've told Wes yet, but he's being pushed into 1200+ whether he goddamn wants to go there or not. He's gone to pick up a 351C today for $150 - like I said, people love him and give him ----. He's like me only without the crotchety old man antics.

Tweek, congrats, but... why $20K/yr pay cut? You just hate the current job?

its something i want to do, i could easily work in dealership parts and be content and relatively well paid for the rest of my life. i like to get my hands dirty and since i am still young i might as well take a shot when i still have the chance. finding a job like this usually require all kinds of certs that i cant afford/dont have the time for. if i fail i can always go back to selling parts.

Re: domestic guys, need input on a shop/manufacturer

well i went and spoke with the projects manager and the shop foreman. i thnk i have a good shot at the postion, i doubt a company would waste the $$ on a background check if they werent going to hire you.

the shop is absolutly massive and i only checked out the torque conv section. if i get the job i would spend a day or 2 getting familiar with the equipment (lathe, milling machine, acid wash) and learning how to inspect cores to be rebuilt. i will be dissassembling and inspecting used/core units, working on mostly the street converters(built to spec from junkyard cores) and all out drag ones sent in by race teams that need to be rebuilt. and as an added bonus i get to be the shop bitch ::)

after a few months then i would get to start building new units from scratch, they make all thier own cases, pumps and turbines for the converters.

on another note,, the hold 8 US patents on converter design and components <<<< pretty impressive if you ask me

Sounds sweet.

Anytime you start off doing something a little new you get to be the bitch. Suck it up, 'cause talent eventually rises to the top.
