hey guys, ive been doin my research and have come up with a plan, but something doesnt sound right. I have a 3.5L isuzu vehicross, its a pretty rare suv, so there is not much out there for it. i want to to put a turbo on it. i will only run 4-5psi. our stock computers can easily accomodate the fuel needs to up to 5psi ( i know this b/c some are running superchargers, so the effects of boost on these engines are well known). We dont really bother with trying to run more boost b/c the tranny wouldnt hold up well to the power. This will be a remote mount. I know the its not as effiecient as a conventional set up, but it does work, and MUCH cheaper than custom manifolds. Anyways, based on calculations, i show that a T3 .82AR 60 comp. trim is what i would need. But .82 seems really big to me. does this sound right to you guys. are there any stock ones (volvo, saab) i could get straight from the salvageyard that would match up comparably. my thing is i dont want to shell out money for a turbo thats good for 500hp when all im ever gonna use is 45hp. I want this mainly for low and mid RPMs (redline @ 6.5k), its my daily driver and probably wont see the strip much.

My other question is, i always thought that when fitting a turbo you should try to match up the displacements. but on other sites i frequently see people using 2.5L turbos on 5.3L engines. Are they stupid or am i missing something. The reason i ask is because this is the reason i havent used a small turbo on 3.5L (assuming compatible maps). Ive searched here for a while but is seems most people here are putting turbos on 2.0-3.0L or 4.3-5.3L. There jsut ismt much info for my engine displacement, excluding a couple of camaros. you have to remmeber though. if you want to keep the power in the midrange, your not gonna want to get a turbo thats going to be efficient up top than rather down low where your looking for the power. I would say downgrade a little from the .82, but not much. Also, I don't really care what those other guys are doing with the s/c. Don't think it would be smart at all to do it with a shot in the air. Strap a wideband on it and then see. I have a feeling everything will not be so fine. good luck
