Does anybody know about 1989 isuzu impulse?

There is a guy who lives near me who has one, and on the front bumper it says isuzu and on the back it has a lotus emblem. wtf? i know it has a turbo 1.8 liter motor in it, making about 140 hp. his has sidepipes and is lowered with a new paintjob (kinda a tan goldish - sound gay but looks hot) i would love to own one of these, his sounds so sick, and when he gets on it and lets off, fire shoots out the exhaust. his ---- is quick.
i love the way it looks, kinda like a corrado.
From what i found out, it went through a couple of model changes. it eventrually would up being the ugly ass geo storm. it also lost the 1.8t motor and has a 1.6 n/a motor now. it sucks that it changed, cuz its bad ass. i would like to know more about them so could someone help me out?

IIRC there was an AWD turbo model. I think there's one of them in our local junkyard. Supposedly you can swap the motor and awd sht to a Geo Storm for an ultimate sleepr.

an 89 would be rwd in stock form they are sleds, the small ihi turbo they come with is a joke. my friend had one for a while but he traded before we could get a bigger turbo on it and see what it would do , the engine had forged pistons put in already tho. i know my buddys car had massive electrical issues, coil blew up a few times but a factory replacement held up. it had a ghost turbo timer,,, WTF , shut it off and it would run for 2 minutes but there was NO turbo timer on the car. the car didnt want to start at times but once we tore apart the ignition in the column and fixxed it the stay running problem went away and it was good. the body was imaculate, they seem to be solid cars nice interior superior handling and they look cool. i bet with an sr20 or a 7mgte it would be a very good car.

To the best of my knowledge, the suspension was tuned by Lotus and that's why the name is on the back.

My brother had one of those a long time ago. Did you know if you shim the WG actuator with a piece of bark, it can achieve an indicated speed of 132mph, hahaha

It was a totol piece of ----. It was only fun because it was RWD, did awsome ------- brake stands, never peg legged, and was the pinnacle of 80's digital dash cars, lol.

yes, the suspension was made by lotus, later years had the DOHC 1.6L in it (same as geo storm) , others had basically the same engine as a 84-86 isuzu trroper/some chevy luvs (1.9l sohc), but was fuel injected, unlike the trooper/luv motors... turbo models are s'posed to be pretty fun, though anemic still, if that makes any sense...

btw, there's one in town here, multi-colored panels with a body kit half-ass pieced on/falling off.... that one sounds like total ass.
