do these rotors look new to you?

2 Attachment(s)
i got some cheap drilled slotted rotors, even though they probly dont help much cause there cheap. and slotted. i think they just waste pad, but i seem to warp rotors bad so i got some thinking it might help.

these are my "new" replacments i was sent the day i installed them. 1st set i got were defective, even though they wouldnt admit it. notice the inside vented area of the rotor - looks rusty and corroded to me

in between the fins they dont look new....u should measure them and see if there real close to the specs of a new one...

Yea those dont look new, when i got mine and put them on, it didnt take too long for them to look like yours, so maybe just cheap materials.

Looks like it's been sitting for too long on a shelf and some moisture got in it.

Re: do these rotors look new to you?

from the box, they make stock rotors as well.
so it's probably old stock that's been sitting forever and they figured a way to move it by slotting/drilling.

Re: do these rotors look new to you?

they look new to me, just of lesser quality than most. most rotor manufacturers spray the anti corrosion spray on them before packaging. its normal for them to look like that with the amount of iron they have in them. i wouldnt hate on their threads, it is your responsibitly to make sure a vendor is creditable before spending the money. i would contact a moderator and tell him what happened.

Next time get some LSD rotors. the price was ultra competitive and the rotors are real nice. Here they are brand new

and here they are after quite a bit of use

well, almost all "new" rotors do have surface rust in the vents like that. most of the foreign manufacturers spray the corrosion resistant matierial on there then shrink wrap them because they wont be on a car for a while. i dont understand how you can say they did you wrong???

i know exactly what ur talkin about....but i have never seen a brand new rotor have rust anywhere on it.....now if u let them sit around for a while...well thats a different story...but brand new in the box never seen it

thats what im saying, i have, at my shop we probably change 30-40 rotors a week, and about half look just like them. you have to remember when putting parts on a 10+yr old car, that they started making parts for it not too long after they started making the car, it could be an old stock item that has been on the shelf for years. it wont affect performance at all, its just surface rust which as soon as they heat up one time would be there anyways.

If those were from LSD I don't know what went wrong. I bought mine during the group buy a while back and they were, and still are pristine.

+1 for Mike.

i understand that...but all im sayin is that when i worked in a shop i did my fair share of brakes....and i never once got rotors that look'd like the ones he bought....i guess its something new to me

ya most new rotors ive bought came wraped and had greese on them, and surface rust from sitting is ok, but look at those, they look like the ones at the junkyard, there all corroded and crusty, pretty much like the old ass ones on my accord looked like after they were resurfaced

Re: do these rotors look new to you?

they look fine to me, more like a really old stocking.
why not just measure the thickness, compare the numbers and get it over with, it makes no point aguring/thinking/assuming that it is used.

Sweet, did they charge you any extra for the pre-warpage?

When rotors are stored in a vertical position for a lon period of time, they will warp...for some reason many parts places dont know this.

Also, if they dont move a lot of volume and if where they store them isnt great, you can certainly get rust in the area you have it...I doubt anyone would take the time to machine down some rotor and drill them to make a few bucks...counterproductive and cost prohibitive unless they are a factory.
