Do M&H slicks need tubes
I am thinking of getting some 13x8.0x22 slicks from mh, I was wondering if you need to run tubes with these?

I had some MT ET/DRAG 22" slkicks and they did NOT require tubes... I dont think those do either... The 24.5s and ---- your supposed to, but ive heard of people not using them there too... |
Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
enlighten my dumb ass self and sorry to sound retarded, but would a tube in a slick negate some of the sidewall flex that the tire was designed for?
|
Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
Maybe but it would be offset by being able to run lower pressure without having to worry about the bead falling off the rim.

when youre only running 8-10 psi... with lots of tq, you can actually spin the tires on the rims, or even break the bead... Tubes are safer... |
Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
That's why lots of big drag racers drill holes in their wheels and put screws through them and into the bead of the tire. To keep the bead on the rim and keep the rim from spinning in the wheel.

yup.

Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
well, I had figured that they were optional, because Mickey Thompson slicks of the same size apparently do not require tubes.
The reason I asked was because they recommend tubes. Check the link below: http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?...on=show_detail I didn't feel like shelling out the additional $50/tire for tubes.:P |

Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
M&H recommends using tubes, I called them last year about this. I had a set of their 13"/8"/23" slicks last year and they leaked air out the sidewalls they said it was "normal" :l I got ride of them and bought MT 13"/9"/24.5" :6

Ya I like my mickeys.
15 inch wheel 22X8 tire. Very nice! |
Re: Do M&H slicks need tubes
I have had a couple sets of M&H's and never have used tubes... Setting the screws through the rim into the tire is pretty sweet, ask beau about it.. the 1700lb crx takes about 8 people to push it with 2 flat tires at the starting line.
