Do I need to use my oil pressure sender

It's going to be a huge pain in the ass to put my oil pressure sender back on, do I need to use it. Does it just make a warning light go on or does it do something vital?

its just a warning light, you dont have to use it, but the light on the dash will stay on. It is not that difficult to put it back on.

God, I cant remmber off the top of my head, I am also thinking like 23mm or even a 7/8 or 15/16th might work.

definatly use a socket on that bitch, Maybe it is 24mm, I have a "special" oil pressure sensor socket I use at work when I deal with those...

I had a huge problem getting mine out. I highly sugggest getting a deep socket for it. Look around, it will be worth your while. I have a 420a engine in my eclipse and if any of you have tried to get to the back of that block you will understand.... needless to say I understand your pain :)

I used an open ended wrench to break it loose, I think it was a 7/8 that fit right on there.

Re:Do I need to use my oil pressure sender

HOLY ----! I finally got it. I went back and forth to the hardware store 6 times, swallowed my gum and cut my hands up pretty bad but I got the fucker off. I can't use a deep socket because there is some metal bracket it its way and a regular one won't fit. So I just cut the tip of the sender because there is no way in hell I'm putting it back in, I'm just gonna take out the light in the instrument cluster. The score so far is Todd 2, Civic 0.

If your car has VTec Isn't the Oil Pressure sending unit needed for Vtec to work?

Re:Do I need to use my oil pressure sender

Their are 2, one for the gauge/warning light, and the other is mounted on next to the vtec solinoid.

i think you should be able to put the wires together to turn the light off.
