Its looks like it might be light, anybody know anything about this car? or worked on one? Ive been looking for a cheap car

From '85 until '89 you can find Subaru's fastest engine, the 1.8L EFI turbocharged 4cyl. It would propel all body styles with 115hp and 134ftlb of torque. Now this engine definitely feels more powerful, and it has a nice growl to it the other engines don't. I was blessed with this engine in 3 of my cars, and enjoyed it immensely. If you want the most performance you can get in a boxy mid-eighties Subaru and don't mind some reliability issues, this is the engine for you.

AWD and turbo is like saying a nice booty and boobies on a woman. I think those are pretty sweet. 1650 is a little pricey for a old ass sube though.

I used to have a wagon with an automatic. I pulled off the whole exhaust and it seemed to work pretty good. On dry pavmant it would break the tires loose and engage the AWD at like 4000. It had a blown headgasket too. I seem to think the WG line on mine might have been missing or somthing because they arent supposed to be that fast.

$1650 seems a little much unless its showroom condition though. One of mine was free and the other I got for doing some yard work (this was quite a while ago though)

i have the station wagon version of this but its not a turbo. been looking for a turbo loyale coupe though. tough as hell to find!

I love those things. IIRC, they came with a V6's and turbo flat 4's. the ONLY place I ever see them is the junk yard. The steering wheels are Michael Knight Tight.

How about all th other controls on those giant "stalks" that come out of the steering coloum.. Im kinda surprised theres ni digital dash. One of my wagons was digital.

One guy I used to work with had one...biggest pile of junk. It would break down on him at least 2-3 times a week, and still had under 100k on the dash.

Ive rode in a identical model that was equipped with a GT28R,Holley standalone and a big fat intercooler top mounted.It was ------- wicked and was the best for catching ricers and local rednecks with.Those motors are really low compression so even with a GT28R it was laggy :D Buy it and do it up :y

there was a justy on ebay a couple days ago and while looking at it i was like damn 2.5L sti motor in that tiny ass car would be tight!

I had an XT through high school. The car was great. I got it with 110k on it. It got timing belts and a water pump. Then my sister drove it for a few years. It got a clutch. Then my brother in law drove it a few years more. The hard no issues and ran perfect the day he traded it in. He got more as a trade in than what I bought it for in 1992. Best $2200 my family ever spent. Bet it still runs to this day. It had 240,000 on it when he traded it in.

this summer im going to buy a old subaru to mess around with on the dunes and practice some rally racing lol. my dream is to be in the wrc.

I went to school with a guy that had lik 3 justy's. He'd just boost em till they broke, but they were fun little bastards. His most expensive one was like $400 lol.

We had $500 in the turbo Justy. It was pretty sweet, needed a Megasquirt as the $5 AFC hack didn't cut it. Ping ping ping ringland.

Anyway, regarding the turbo Loyale sedan (never seen a non-RS trim level Loyale sedan before): EA82T is an okay beater engine, the RHB5 on it is good for 170 whp which is about all the EA82T can take according to net lore - but those era Scoob guys are cranking the boost on a tiny turbo and using stock engine management so who knows. Be prepared to replace crank and cam seals every 20-30K, otherwise they are decently reliable when stock, good beaters prone to rust. I dunno about the turbo vehicles, but the NA EA82 cars it was easier to pull the engine when doing the clutch, even on the 2WD units.

Some people would pay $1650 for a rust free 83K mile car, especially old school Scoob fans.

Some of the earlier bodystyle cars came with the pushrod motors, unlike the later OHC EA82's. Very nice engines, IMO.

We used to eat LSD and go mudding in a BRAT up Spivey, back in HS. Loads and loads of fun riding in the back and having to get out and push. Good times.

The seats in the back of the BRAT made it a "passenger car", to avaid the heavy tarrifs put on import pickup trucks at the time.
