Do any of you guys fish?- New legit question!

So, I'm in the south.. I guess I'm a country boy @ heart. I enjoy the finer things in life... like, getting up on Sunday morning, and fishing til it gets too hot.. Hookin a few nice bass, drinkin a few beers, etc etc. Just curious if any of u HMTers fish. and if u do, what do u fish for?

So, Sunday I caught some eel.. Knowing nothing about them, I threw them all back. I've done some research, and cleaning it is just like skinning a catfish. SIMPLE! Anyone ever caught/ cleaned/ ate eel?

Fishing will always be a hobbie of mine, ever since I was a little kid, I started catching blue gil, now I usually fish if its a fresh water day for Lare mouth bass, pickeral, or trout. If its salt or brackish water then stripers! NOT STRIPPERS! haha early morning posts!

I'm too impatient for fishing. Beers definitely make it more tolerable. I do love some smoked trout...

Strippers? lol.. You mean stripers.. Yea, we have them here in freshwater, all around the state. We catch those all during the spring, and then move to other fish. Bass is a spring/summer/fall thing here. The only winter fishing here is catfish.. that's year round. We did the bream/ bluegill/ crappie thing when I was a kid, then I decided to move to a move challenging opponent. The whole bobber & worm deal got old for me! No pickeral or trout here, not closeby anyway.

Beer makes damn near everything more tolerable. Nothin like hittin the water @ 6:30am with sleep in your eyes and a beer in your hand..huh? I have a big fishing day planned for labor day, but I'm so worried about drinkin on the water. It would be cool, if I wasn't underage. bein 20 sucks ass! You can drink and boat here, as long as you're not over the legal limit- .08.

Just go fishing out in bum ---- no where. We drive way up into the mountains to the lake we fish, and I crack beers up there all day and no one bothers us.

Bass fishing is the ----

Ive been fishing in the sound all the time for the last couple months, mostly catch rockfish and perch. We mostly just go for crab tho, mukilteo has a good amount of dungeness.

I go to an inlet north of jacksonville beach and fish at the mouth.. i've caught some decent sized flounder and whiting (not sure if that's the right name). live bait ftw

The nassau sound just north of atlantic beach in jax is pretty good. Me and my buddys have caught some bonnet head sharks, redfish, flounder and all kinds of stuff. We catch our shrimp in cast nets downtown right on the southbank. Nothing like free shrimp. Im more of a freshwater bass guy myself though. Cant beat throwing a weedless worm into some brush and getting drilled by a largemouth.

Living in Germany make fishing kinda hard since there are a ton of rules. I've been fishing for the Wels catfish one the Rhine and Main rivers all summer.
The Wels catfish gets upwards of 400lbs and 13 ft long.

Re: Do any of you guys fish?

I go fishing about 5-10 times a year for largemouth bass but i will take anything that gets on the line. I do not eat any of my fish though, i love fish and fishing but my father always let the fish go so thats why. I usually go fishing when i go on vacation down to North Carolina in Lake Gaston, any one ever been there?? It is not a very popular place but pretty large and good fishing and its really nice down there. Other then that i fish in the chesapeake bay.
What about crabbing?? any one catch and steam crabs?? its not the easiest thing to do but well worth the work.

I haven't had much time to go fishing lately, but I can't wait till my boy is old enough to go fishing. I don't care much for the taste of fish(especially freshwater), so I mostly do it for the game. I love bass fishing.

this is basically the thing that keeps me going out, i like fishing but dont eat it. crab on the other hand i cant get enough of. we go a couple times a week in mukilteo and we've taken home as much as 15 dungeness home and steamed all of em. the only downside is the mess.

I know where Gaston lake is. I fish that occasionally with my pops. He lives lake front on Keer lake though which isn't far from Gaston, so Keer lake is where i fish at mostly.

Went bass fishing this weekend. Between me and the old man we caught 11 fish Saturday.

how long were you out and what bait do you use?

How many people use live bait compared to artificial??

All artificial bait here. We caught most on 10 inch red shad worms or crank baits. My father caught a few on the pop r. I can't lie though my father cost most of the fish, 7 of them at that.

we just put an inch of water in the bottom of a pot and let it simmer/boil. takes 15 minutes or so, break open and dip in butter

yea we do the same for maryland blue crabs but we also put vinegar in with he water and put old bay on them and we dont usually dip in anything, you should try cooking those crabs that way it is the maryland way and very good.
