DIY Video Projector

was just searchin around and came across this article on how to build your own XGA video projector.. check it!

article..
http://www.denguru.com/2004/11/13/su...or_/index.html

video..
http://www12.tomshardware.com/images...diy_beamer.zip

you can do it for under 300 bucks.. and for the most part its better then a $1000+ projector from like Best Buy.
i'm actualy thinking about givin it a shot.

I gave away some promo banners at work to some guy that said he was making a projector. This is pretty neat stuff i might keep a couple and try this!

I have one. They really heat up the room. Great in the winter, tho.

Re: DIY Video Projector

My roommate in college built one four years ago. Flat screen monitor, plexi glass, projector and a long vga cable to go to his pc and done. He bought a nice screen to hang on the wall, but don't need it a white wall works great. only thing is that dead pixels show up pretty big.

I may just have the means to do this.. my step-dad is a teacher and could get his hands on a projector like that... and this monitor sitting in front of me isnt a necessity :6 >:D

Damnit I want one...I might just have to find the resources to make one and start building.

Re: DIY Video Projector

pretty cool but considering how delicate the LCD and controls are it kinda kills its practicality. Could be fun if you have some money to spare and don't mind the hum of the projector.

It has to be fairly dark in the room for the picture to show up decent. Bascially only a night time deal.

Re: DIY Video Projector

You only have problem in the daylight if there is direct sunlight entering the room and you don't have functional curtains/blinds.

Those things get pretty damn hot too. I'm sure that kills the life span. Also, whoever said white walls work, you want a grayish color wall it'll give you much better contrast.

Re: DIY Video Projector

for a cheaper/slightly more ghetto picture you can always just buy a ready made LCD projection panel. They run 50-100 bucks. Much lower quality than a nicer ripped apart monitor... but they are already wrapped up in a nice durable shell w/ cooling fans.
