To dispute or not to dispute? Bad ebay transaction.

So its been 3+ weeks, nearly a month since I sent this guy the money for some brand new piston rings, his ebay rating was 100% positive with 88 transactions so I thought he was cool to buy from, well when I sent the money he asked for an extra $10 for shipping to Canada, no problem, I sent him an extra $10 and that is when all contact stopped, he did not send me a tracking number and stopped answering my emails, I'm not sure what to do anymore because I know for a fact it does not take a month to recieve piston rings, hell my smiley tig arrived after only a week, my TT rods and SRP pistons came within a week and a half.

So what would you guys suggest? keep waiting or try to get my money back since I pay'd with paypal.

Althought true, I remember once I waited a month for a rear B swap engine bracket from san francisco, but the difference is the guy stayed in touch with me.

Dispute it! If the guy has any common sense he'll get notified of the dispute and be like "ohshitsocks my moneyzz in danger" and send it to you.

Dispute it before the window closes. It will either get you your money back, or motivate the seller to ship yo shtuff.

my bet. He shipped it and its delayed. It takes awhile sometimes from the US, especially around x-mas (duh duh!)

i would dispute it on the fact that he no longer responds, not that its not there yet...

I always open disputes if I don't hear from the seller or getting shipping info within two weeks. I always write in the dispute that I will close it as soon as I get my stuff but that I wanted to get the process started becuase paypal makes you wait a while.

I had one guy not answer any of the 8 emails I sent him over a three week period, and ship it out as soon as I filed a claim with paypal. He was all sorts of pissed and gave me all these excuses about how he was too busy etc... well guess what -------? You are the one that sold me the part, if you didn't have time to ship it, maybe you shouldn't have sold it!

I don't have much patience with lazy shippers and bad communicators.

i've had something similar happen. craig has it right here. i filed a complaint and once the seller saw there was a claim in process he made the effort at communication and we got the issue resolved. turns out i hadn't paid enough for shipping and he was just waiting for the extra $5. i paid the extra as soon as i realized it was my bad and i got the item in a few days. i cancelled the claim and everyone was happy in the end.
