Disable Airbag on SUNFIRE? accident..

Alright my girlfriend has a 95 sunfire SE, and she was involved in an accident. the front end of her car needs alot of new parts. she hit a vehical and now the frame is a little bent towards the drivers side, but i believe i can bang it back into place. but doing this i think will deploy the airbags so the first thing i want to know is how can i disable the airbags?

also, if anyone has parts or suggestions for me because i need to change the rad, the ac, the front bumber and rebar, the fenders and the hood and also i need to change the front support/subframe. and i need a left front headlight.

any suggestions or anything i should know? i got the car all apart just need the parts to get this back together and get the frame back a little so it doesnt cause any more problems..

the airbag is the issue id like to know more about....

btw ~ price on parts quote (1000canadian)
hood,fenders,lights,bumper,rad/support,frontsupport

please let me know ASAP

1500 on the car is still owing so it must be worth it, she doesnt really have an option...

and this forum is 'anything goes'. if you know nothing about sunfires, you dont have to type smart guy. stop speaking for everyone. id hate for you to be talking for me.

Yes this is a general discussion forum, but I was just stating that you may have a better response from a bodywork oriented forum, not a turbo oriented forum. Relax, we love to talk ---- here and if you can't handle it then move on, bud. Its all in good fun around here. And yesm I was talking for the whole forum, I am the spokesperson. Regardless of what anyone else says.

Speaks for me

-BTW, Did you read the manaul ? Specifically says in my Suby manual, airbags will only diploy while key is in the on position. If you are really worried remove the fuse to the sensors

^^^^
That spelling is horable

handle it? u must not have read what i wrote because it wasnt sarcastic or anything, i stated what it was. i wasnt rude just stated the facts, i know what forums are good for what, but i feel HMT is the best forum around, and the ppl on here are great so id post, specially since i know a few ppl here with sunfires.
im not out of line, and the obvious doesnt always have to be posted. 9 outta 10 ppl can read between the lines and understand this is a TURBO site, but this forum is a general discussion forum and whats more general about disabiling an air bag?
lemme post, dont jack my thread with heat about what and where i should be posting on a general forum. i posted on a few different places already, im looking for a quick responce.

How much bodywork experience do you have? IMO, you are asking for a LOT of trouble down the road by attempting to fix a bent frame yourself.

whoa dude, i was just referring to the fact tha tairtonics is the only person that i know of on here with a sunfire. if you bend the frame in your car, it is almost certain that an insurance company will total it.

what happens is this guy were to fix this car, and hit a family member of your's and they happened to be badly injured by the accident? yeah, he'd be an idiot because it wasn't fixed properly, and you'd be mad.

don't do the ---- yourself, it will no longer be safe to drive, the frame will always be weak in the spot where it bent.

oh and chevy, ---- YOU BUDDY

Hey man do what everyone is saying, get the frame fixed properely or you're looking for trouble. Where in Canada are you I have some of the parts you need but I'm not shipping. I agree with everyone else too, junk it, you can sell enought parts to pay the car off and you will be far better off. I just did that to my sunfire and it was in great shape and was a 97 :-X

you could always just pull the air bag fuse in the fuse box (i believe its a 20amp one)..... the air bag sensors are under the pasanger seat and under the hood latch. they will be marked in yellow... easy to find.

success story!

thanks everyone for there advice and help.
the good part of this story is i got the frame bent back pro, and i didnt blow the airbags adding to her problems. i did suggest a trade-in on a newer j-body (she cant drive the honda, that would give us a bad name) and will see how things go. hopefully this weekend primer and paint...

anyways, wasnt trying to be a dick, just wanted some advice, thanks everyone ;D

Re:Disable Airbag on SUNFIRE? accident..

I know this is generally a honda oriented forum, but the name "homemadeturbo" implies no brand specifics at all....

Also, ive seen a lot of honda body-work or non-engine related posts too. No biggie.

The sunfire (assuming its a gt) has a 150 hp 2.4 liter with 155 ft lbs of torque (torque, for those of you with stock hondas and a lot of opinions, is much more fun than sticker hp).

Now, its not bad for stock. But airtonics or turboz24guy can tell you how fun this motor is boosted. At only 5 psi it would put down impressive numbers, properly tuned.

At 12 psi, with Hahn racecraft's new kit on an ecotec powered cavalier (same as the sunfire), a 3000 lb car mind you, they ran 12 second quarter miles with stock internals and slicks. But its 12 psi. Thats it. Hahn is now using the Cavalier instead of Neon to showcase.

Just a little education. flame away ;D
