diesel turbos no good ?

Here's some rules to live by for turbocharging.

Never, ever, consider buying a turbo from a diesel engine to use on your gasoline engine
The reason: diesel turbochargers do NOT have compressor inlet bearing seals.
The vacuum from a carburetor will draw lube oil through the compressor bearing seal until the crankcase runs out of oil!!

what the hell is this guy talking about ?!

if it's not posted on hmt, it's pure nonsense. we are the know-alls of anything that has to do with cars.

Re: diesel turbos no good ?

This is referring to draw-through carb setups. With draw-through setups there is vacuum in the compressor housing at idle and such so it can draw the oil past the seals.

The dynamic one-piece compressor seal solves this problem. It's that older carbon seals that had this problem.

however, you don't have to worry about this if you aren't carb'd or are running a blow-through setup.

i couldn't for the life of me understand how this thing would be any differnent from any other turbo, it's gotta have an oil supply and drain ...just like every other turbo out there,

some people man....maybe i outta get the book ....

You're fine then. You can run any of the seal setups.

Re: diesel turbos no good ?

meaning ..which turbos ??

i'm not fully understanding this ?!

Re: diesel turbos no good ?

Meaning any turbo will be fine (sized properly of course :P). You only have to worry if you are using a draw-through carb setup. You are using blow-through so it doesn't matter which sela the turbo has.

i prefer to use turbos that are "too big" for the given setup... you make more power ;)

btw....damn i just checked the date..... you know its 2007? damn near every car sold in America in the last 20 years has been fuel injected ::) :-*

stupid government :( :( :(

i'd love to see these cars nowadays if we still had carbs...

they would be INSANE. 19 meters and solonieds, 6 differnt throttle and choke plates

you adjusting fuel

me (Dave ;)) adjusting fuel

your ride runs perfect WOT but rich as ---- at idle? turn the screws, change jets and deal with it... mine can run perfect everywhere, cuz i can tune every part of vacuum/boost and RPM....

dont be afraid of technology and evolution... embrace it or watch it pass you by....
