Felt the need to check in here...it's my dad's Del Sol. And yes as far as I knew it ran perfect before the timing belt, my dad likes to keep his cars in good shape.

Me trying to blame it on krustin?

Not quite like I remembered this place...

Unfortunately this bearing problem has arisen...I would have much rather seen it surface after a shop did the t-belt/waterpump than after a best friend of mine did it, but I guess it happens and there is nothing to do but get it fixed right now.

Now instead of pointing fingers and placing blame, how about some helpful comments so that we can get this problem figured out.

My helpful comments were to prevent krusty from working himself to death over something that isn't his fault. If it was a 4.3 V6, with notorious rod bearing problems, no one would even suggest it was the mechanics fault if he worked on a non-oil pressure area of the engine and then it promptly fell apart. Well, news flash, despite the unfailability hype Honduh got some things wrong - D16Ys and non-H22 Prelude/Accord motors are know for rod bearing problems, and all Honduh auto transmissions are poop.

Nothing here to figure out, it's a rod knock and the rod itself is damaged, a timing belt doesn't cause this damage, krusty needs to get paid if he's taking care of you whether or not he's your friend. Time for an engine, holmes.

althought i wont be as harsh. i do agree that a t-belt has nothing to do w/ the rod knock. Just a bad coincidence.

ouch, being a bit harsh. Nobody said I wasn't getting paid, in fact when I dropped the car off his dad had a check waiting for me, I did turn it down though. I told him I would take it after we got the rod bearing issue solved. Now I'm looking for an engine...

Did you change the oil at the same time you did the timing belt? Did you check the oil level before/after doing all of this BEFORE starting up? Any oil leaks around the motor that would cause concern?
