Detailing 101
I'm actually partners with and totally support this company. Some of you may already know of AutoGeek and some may not. I worked with them in developing this guide for car care. At the end of each section, there are the chemicals that are needed to perform what was just taught. I have used every single one of these chemicals and know they work. My reputation stands behind AutoGeek 100%
Here is a link to their Detailing University. If anyone knows how you could move the images and links over so we don't have to click the link, let me know. The videos for download are the best there is for training.......and their free. The gentleman in the pictures is a great detailer and instructor. Let me know if this is ok and maybe sticky or make a new section here at HMT for car care. I would be honored to mod it. I will also be getting HMT member a discount code to enter at ordering time. Probably 15% off chemical and kits. Justin http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._1974_45661916 |

My favorite is doing a one step cleaner/wax that removes defects and protects in one step.........I get 100.00-150.00 for these and they only take 1.5 hours. |

I'll be waiting for the discount:)
I've been wanting a porter cable for a while now. |
Re: Detailing 101
damn that does seem worth it. but what is the initial start up cost? and how long do most of the products last before you use them all up? i would be hard pressed to find someone around here who would pay anything at all to have there car detailed. there is one detail shop here (rdg - real darn good. i know its pretty gay) and they are struggling to stay in business. so much so that they added free oil changes to every detail.

This is the best kit for polishing and protecting...... http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-porter-cable-kit.html You can use Poli-Seal by itself for you waxes that do not require polishing. This kit would last me about 3-4 months. The pads six months. The I would get these for cleaning supplies. All can be found at local wal-marts and auto stores....... Washing.... Meguiar's Gold Class 7.99....lasts 2 month Chenille Wash mitt.......looks like dreadlocks. 3.99.......lasts 1 month Degreasing.... Purple Power. Can be cut 1:1 making it an awesome value. I use it on carpets, interiors, leather, bugs, wheels, and tires. 5 Gallons 19.98 at Advanced Auto ...lasts one month Interior Protectant.... Eagle One Nano-Protecant Nice matte finish and can be used on leather 4.98 at Advanced Auto.......lasts one month Tire Protectant..... Good old Armor All. It's came along way. I wouldn't use it on the inside of vehicles but I love on tires and the inner fender wells. Apply it with a microfiber applicator. 7.98 at Wal-Mart for 64oz......lasts 2 weeks Glass..... Stoner's Invisible Glass Dedicated microfiber towels. Keep them seperate from other towels. 4.98 at Advanced......lasts me a month Later you can try out boutique products but these are the best bang for your money. Hope this all helps........ |
