Dept. of Homeland Security Says to Stop Using IE

From Yahoo News: 'The Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team touched off a storm this week when it recommended for security reasons using browsers other than Microsoft's Internet Explorer.'" In related news, rocketjam writes "According to Wired, the wide------ Internet Explorer security exploit last week and CERT's subsequent recommendation that IE users should consider switching to another browser has resulted in a large spike in downloads of the Mozilla Organization's Mozilla and Firefox web browsers."

Re:Dept. of Homeland Security Says to Stop Using IE

I've been using firefox since its inception, before they changed the name. I'm working up a case against using IE company wide at the moment. Tabbed browsing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I wrote my own browser using the IE DLL's that allowed tabbed browsing and had a built in popup block as well as a bunch of other stuff, but this code is much better in terms of security so I dumped my IE hack and started using this and like it much better. It gets even better with each revision that comes out..

...ya, I got bored. 8)

They took MSN Messenger away from us at work. Even to the point of dropping packets that match the protocol on the firewall, so you cna't use a proxy. It sucks.. .ya.. :P

The pictures on the HMT tech project pages don't work in Mozilla, due to some stupid javascript.

Re:Dept. of Homeland Security Says to Stop Using IE

I've been on firefox for a few months now as well. I agree the built in popup blocker is great. I haven't had any problems with the pictures in the tech section though. It is definitely a good product, highly recommend!
