Del Sol

I am thinking of getting a del sol, possibly with a b16, if not then dropping one in. Is it difficult to swap? Any one have anything to say about them, good or bad? And how much boost could you run on a stock internal b16. thanks

That's it??? I would've assumed more seeing how it has a higher starting hp than the d-series which can handle the same amount. That's disappointing if you ask me for you b series owners. :-\

Thanks anyways, its greatly appreciated. There are some good guys on here!

Re: Del Sol

12-14psi on a tuned B16 will DEFINATELY produce more than 200whp. At 8psi I'm very much above the 200whp. O0

dragon 04-21-2005 12:01 AM

Re: Del Sol

they can handle more than that to the wheels.

Hopefully it does handle more or i am going to be without an engine at some point, but if you can run 12-14 psi almost 1 bar then u have to be over 200 whp no question

Re: Del Sol

del sols are heavy. get a hatch civic and drop in a b18 or h22 >:D and boost it.

B16Drag 04-21-2005 12:17 AM

Re: Del Sol

I have to agree. Del Sol's are heavy.

BUT, its bad ASS with the top off and hearing that turbo spool...

Re: Del Sol

If my D16 with LS rods/Vitara pistons can handle 15 psi and 2XX BHP then I think the B16 can easily handle 300 tuned.

Re: Del Sol

heavy but top come off rear window goes down

Re: Del Sol

I have have a 95 sol with d16. Really slow but fun to drive. The ladies also like it if that matters to you. But overall never had any promblems.

Re: Del Sol

i have a 95 del sol with a mini me, there's nothing like hearing the turbo spool the blow off with the roof off!!!!

twin911 04-21-2005 11:50 AM

Re: Del Sol

yeah the biggest thing for me is the roof and the rear window, its prety much all open, the two seater thing is nice too. It the only honda like this, other than the s2k, but i cant really afford that so del sol it is!

RedCavz 04-21-2005 12:15 PM

Re: Del Sol

How much heavier is a del sol compared to the average civic hatch? I always thought they were light cars ???

I always thought so too but i just looked it up, a civic is arround 1015 kg and a del sol arround 1350, i guess they beef up the frame to make up for the lack of roof so they body doesnt roll too much.

Re: Del Sol

Trust me you'll be very happy with a boosted del sol! ;)

I have my kit off my car at the moment, but if you are interested let me know. Its a T3 kit with everything. Made good power on it. Just took it for smog and refilling the A/C for the summer! Yup, I gotta have A/C in the 100+ degree weather!

Re: Del Sol

B16Drag 04-21-2005 02:00 PM

Re: Del Sol

The S model is about 2300lbs, but if you are looking at the VTEC its about 2500lbs.

Ahhh, just roll down the window. ;)

Re: Del Sol

lots of mis-information in this thread. stop measuring power in psi people, psi does not matter. B16's can handle over 300 hp at the wheels.
