deisel cars? kinda long but need help

well i gave my car to a close friend of mine its a 1983 mercedez benz 240d and its slow as ---- and he want more power....i know you can just get the turbo off the turbo version but he doesnt want to go that route and he ask what would happen if you mixed like an alcohol mixture into the deisel would it even work?

you would probly not increase in performance that much, diesels are slow, espicially NA diesels, throw a turbo on that bitch, then mix up the alchol fuel misxture thing(i don't know if that will work, but it's worth a try) then get one of those camping propane cylinder's and run a house into the intake, then turn on the dial, and hold on, make a VID....here's an explanation of how to hook up your own NOS, you can modify it for propane easily... www.geocities.com/calgarycivics/NOS

Some things you just can't make a hell of a lot faster, that's life.

If I was him I would wait until he had some kind of money and get a better platform to work on. I'm sure there are things to make it a little faster but probably not worth it in the end.

Maybe I'm wrong ;)

I might be of help....Is it the 5cyl Deisel? If so this engine is notrious for having no power. It also doesnt help that even the 2door version weighs in at an excess of 3600-3700 lbs.

The only real solution is to swap that engine out....anything that can be done to the little turbo 100hp deisel is going to be of very little help.

Try to research swapping out the rear end with a rear end from an early 70's 114 chasis 4spd deisel. These seem to be an "oddball" sized high ratio, and may cure suglish acceleration.

As for engine swaps....Small block chevys/gm engines wont fit. but small block fords seem to bolt in. Their is no "kit" and you must do some custom fabrication but it has been done before with success
