dear Dr. Boost...

Thanks for the turbo. I ripped off that tiny little .48 exhaust housing and put my .63 on it. I will celebrate by posting video of a huge burnout. For now, i'll post pictures.

Just waiting for the outlet pipe to come in the mail now. ;D

Hmm, it'd be a fair race.

2000 civic hatch vs. 2000 coupe
b18b@8psi with forged internals and a clutch vs. b16a@12psi, no clutch and stock internals.

Anyways, on with the pics.

Just waiting for the outlet pipe to come so I can start to boost. I started it up and the ------- thing is smoking. I have the worst luck with turbos burning oil.. no idea why, my oil lines are mint, oil return is awesome.. but it smokes. I trust dr.boost, he said it the turbo was mint, and I tested the shaft play and it was fine. So I guess the next step is to put an oil restricter inline with the oil feed line. It's not smoking much though, so that's good.

I have a b16 oil pump, you guys think the pressure is too high for the turbo? Dr. boost said it wasn't smoking for him and he had it running without an oil restricter on a d16z6 (whatever those run for oil pressure, i assume my b16 oil pump runs higher pressure?)

damn bitch, same car, same turbo, same bov, same wg, you tried to copy my ecu too with my uberfuckable datalogging port, but mines a p05 bitch, i got you!! how'd you mount your radio down there? i don't think it's the oil pump, b/c if that was the case, every b16 would have that problem ;) could just be burning out some of the old oil/dirt and causing it to smoke. i told you a million times to use a ------- wg flange to make your outlet pipe off the turbo, you don't trust me? :P nice mbc, you keep a flat head with you?

Your oil feed line is ------- huge man!

Switch to -3an it I bet it won't smoke anymore... otherwise try the restrictor.

Try Steath's ball valve. That's what I got but I have it open all the way since I'm only getting 15-20 psi when my engine is warm. I don't think Dr. Boost had a prob with it smoking because the z6 puts out a lower amount of oil pressure.

Re:dear Dr. Boost...

I took the oil return line off the pan and oil was pouring out of the fitting. I'm guess the turbo is fine, but it couldn't get the oil out fast enough. What I don't understand is that this return fitting is at the very top of the pan, why would the oil level be above that?

I let it drain out then put the oil line back on. Now it stopped smoking because it can get the oil back to the pan. But the dip stick only reads 1/2 now. ???

Moral of the story: dr.boost says it's a good turbo, then it's a good turbo. ;D

haha.. radio? well well well mr. copy cat, wouldn't you like to know?!?! It's a cup holder out of a 96-98 civic.
btw, my datalogging port is the original and don't you forget it. ;D

Re:dear Dr. Boost...

Something has to up with your oil lines or it might be your motor(rings?). That turbo was not smoking on my car. I have a DOHC ZC, not a Z6. The other turbo I have has so much shaftplay the blades hit the compressor housing and it doesn't smoke. If you want I'll take that turbo back and pay for the shipping, but I'm sure it's a good turbo. :-\

Let me know......

I already posted what the problem was... the oil line is above my return so i had to drain some of the oil. sheesh, read the whole topic. ;D

teg if you dont have an oil gauge it might be wise to see how high your oil pressure is. Mine was over 100 at WOT and driving around once it got warm. Got the restrictor and it dropped to 10-15psi on idle and goest up to 50psi-70psi in idle. Last thing I wanna see is ur seals f'ing up on you.

what are you going to do with the .48 housing? i've got a .63/.60 that i'd like to to a .48/.60.
