How bad is the damage? Besides the fairings, is there other shi that needs to be replaced? Is the title salvaged now?

just the fairings , back light and turn signals, back of the exhaust, runs like new. hes including gloves jacket and helmet. He said it has a clear title. How exactly does a title get turn into a reconstruction or salvage title. And when im transfering the title will the title place be able to tell me if it is clear?

It will say right on the title if its a salvage title or not. Lots of bike are crashed and have clean titles because they dont get turned into the insurance companys.

Yup. Look on the title he has. If it's clear, you're golden and getting a pretty good deal on that bike. :y

check for a cracked subframe, the slip on thats broken on that will cost around $200 for a replacement, Your looking at another several hundered dollars for plastics unless if you streetfighter it, check radiator for bends and leaks, basically look it over really really good, I'd ask how fast he was going when he laid it down, it could have frame damage the aluminum frames bend easily as well as the subframes. If all checks out well I'd say it'd be a pretty good trade in your favor.

As stated above. Even a generally low speed lay down could affect frame integrity. Make SURE it has no crack or signs of bending/fatigue regardless of how minor.

Chances are the guy will say it was laid down at like 5mph or less. They always do. Some will even swear it was laid down at a stop, even when you can see marks that clearly indicate it slid across pavement.

With the fairings off it shouldn't be hard to spot any serious damage. After I took the fairings off my bike I noticed a spot on the motor that had kissed pavement. No way of seeing it with the fairings on. :-\
