Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
nice, at least you painted the block too. You should paint the covers red instead of the polished look. Or orange, muscle cars need to have some either red or orange in the engine bay. :P

this motor's nickname is Sambo. the exhaust manifolds/water pump/fuel pump is all black l0 |
Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
then paint them red :P
yeah i was picturing it and orange covers woulda looked poo, but I dunno maybe red will do the trick. :P I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I think an engine with muscle needs some dressing. Now that I think about it, maybe red wouldn't have been all that great either, you shoulda painted the block chevy orange and have the polished covers, how that would be hard. |
Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
If you wanted to be original you could of painted it like a baby blue like the original L series motors came in. Samboo...... lol. you should paint the engine bay black too and then it'd look like a black hole in there. I'm amazed at how fast you are getting this done! I'm still waiting on this damn fucker to buy my 4dr so I can start buying ---- for my Z. Knock on wood he comes today.

Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
Id go to the junkyard and get some mounts off a SBC (whatever looks good) and fab them to fit. And johnny dont even think about making those mounts yourself unless you just tack them together and have someone else weld them.
;) |
Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
Johnny hook me up with your sister and I'll get you some pushrods.

Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.

lol jk :P seriously tho, if you guys want parts all migged up and looking like titties bonded to metal, bring em out and ill have my bro in law lay down some beads on it. his welds are strong and look like high budget porn. |

Chevy T5s are like $350 from the yard, then add bellhousing clutch pressure plate flywheel and whatever it'll enmd up costin $600 we got a 700r4 for $75 dollars of craiglists 8) |
Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.

Re: Datsun 260z, Chevy V8Z project thread.
No Z ever came with all drums. !!! Nothing has to be done and you can use all your stock ----. It's a lil Z diy junkyard upgrade. Go and get some 4 piston calipers from a mid 80's Toyota 4runner or pickup. They bolt right on since Nissan used the same company as Toyota for calipers ;) Then pick up some 84 300z non turbo vented rotors and your up to par with the power your gonna make so you can atleast stop that beast once she gets going.
