Dash Removal

I'm trying to remove the dash in my 88 dx and it doesn't want to come out. the screw holding the vent cover on on the driver's side wouldn't come out, so I broke it off. It still catches on the driver's side even though I shoved the remnence of the screw into the hole, I think it's hanging up on the vent hose because on the passenger side the hose comes out and on the driver's side when I slip it over the hose it moves freely. What I'm asking is: does the hose come out with the dash? and also, where is the gauge cluster wire clip? do the fuses come out with the dash?

No the vent pipe does not come out with the dash. The guage cluster harness is behind the guage cluster. There should be like 3 different connectors on the back.

i think the people here deal w/ engine removal mostly, not interior.. I've seen the procedure in my Helms though.

very easy questions. the Defogger hose DOES NOT come out with the dash it will stay under the metal steering coloum brace. the gauge cluster is held in by 2 plugs and the speed-o cable very easy to take em out, push the tabs and then pull out. the hardest part of taking the dash out is the bolts and the wiring that is accually clipped onto the dash board, there is 2 bolts on each side of each drivers and passengers sides one on top one on bottom. the one directly in the center of the dash at the very top and 3 in the mid console area lower half. hope this helps. late :)

thank you very much, I'm not sure where those bolts are you were describing, but if I try this again I'll look for them. Are those 4 bolts you described in addition to the one in the center under the rectangular cover and the two on either side under the vent covers, or are those included and I'm only missing one?

Re:Dash Removal

one bolt is behind the lil door heater vent, one on the driver side is right by the hood latch. on the passenger side there is the one behind the vent and one under by the heater blower. the ones in the center are under the console yes one on each side and one behind the ash tray. im going off what i remember and i have done it for more then one car they may or may not be exact but i think this is right. as far as the wiring goes i think thats the hardest part of it all. they are lil slip clips that conect to the center rear and the driver side rear and make sure the gauge cluster wiring. goes out the bottom otherwise you will rip it out. i hope this helps you man, ill check up to see if your having any more problems
