I'm sure I'm not the only one that hates this. My old 94 civic EX would hit a little over 140 in 4th gear when the rev limiter would kick in. My new 98 ex cuts off at 120. I know I shouldn't be going that fast but it would be nice to know I could if I wanted. Can any thing be done other than spending around 300 dollars for a computer upgrade. there has to be some way to bypass the governer. somebody,anybody please help...

I have a 95 Civic EX and I don't think I could go 140 in 4th without maxing out the tach and blowing my engine. maybe I am just nicer to my car than some people though.

what mods did you have on your 94?

i went 140 in my mothers 91 integra ls along time ago. wasn't fun though thats too fast to go in that car :/

yes it would go that fast. it had an intake, header, highflow cat, exhaust, crank pulley, clutch, flywheel, fuel pressure regulator, plug wires, short shifter, feilds sfcvtec controller, suspension, 15" wheels, and I think thats about it. I added gauge overlays from liteformz that went up to 160 and the speedo was acurate. spanked many cars being able to hit that speed.

so does anyone know how to disable the speed cut off?
The 94 civic dynoed at 123 hp with that list off parts on a d16z6. I still have the chart to prove it.

I would really like to get rid of my whatever the hell that it is that keeps my car at 120. I mean ---- I stomp the guts out of a car then I top out at 120. I have to hold it there because this guy without the rev limiter is slowly gaining and later--way later--passes me. I have a D16Z6 and that ****** will hold at 120 with plenty of room til redline.

You see, in Kentucky police will wave -off a chase if the chasee's speed reaches 150mph. So it's important to open up the possibility of reaching 150, because I open the possibilty of a car chase every time I want to give my Sol a boost.

So please, help us out

you're gunna end up in jail. just cause your car goes 140 doesn't mean its fast :P

almost any car will go 120. acceleration is the important part. you can prove your car is fast without going 150.

i agree....my bros 96' corolla with 105 hp to the crank can go 120. and i ran it(just for fun) and got a 17.79 in the 1\4. and whoever races up to those speeds is stupid....unless your car finishes the 1\4 that fast!

What good is it if you can run a 13 in the 1/4 but your car cuts off at 120. I am trying to compete with mustangs. the v8 not 4 cyl. and every v8 mustang I know is going to spank me if my cars going to cut off on me.

beat him to 65. thats impressive. NOT doing a 120 mph fly by. thats rice

there is no point in racing someone 100+ (unless you're at the track). unless you want to end up in jail/without a drivers license & car/paralyzed/dead
