with a chipped ecu you can adjust the timing and fuel maps all across the whole rpm/boost columns where with a FMU it just raises the fuel pressure in the fuel rail depending on the boost your getting. not caring what rpm or anythign like that usually makign the car run either hella rich or semi lean in spots. and the chipped ecu retards the timing per set amount per psi of boost.
