d16z6 to d16y8?
Could i swap a d16y8 or y7.. not sure which it is... with my d16z6.... is everything going to bolt up. My turbo is a greddy kit w/ the custom manifold.
What kind of boost could i safely run and drag app run on d16y8 w/ rod/piston combo. Should i do headgasket? what else? Any comment of opinion on this would be great. |
Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
ok ok .. first, why would you want to do that??

Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
Because my friend is doing a gsr swap and givin me his motor for free(only hass less than 50k miles on it) Plus, If I was gona take the motor out I was planning on doin a piston/rod combo. Its still 1.6liter sohc vtec. Just wondering if everything would bolt up exactly.

Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
as far as i know its the same motor but hte head is a little different i think, that plus its odb2

Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
I believe the Y8 (You don't want the Y7, it's the DX non-tec, unless you're you're going to do a D7/Y8 block/head mini.. ) has a little better flow Same horse, but better flow. PErsonally.. Unless you're doing the mini.. I wouldn't even bother with it.
Too much hassle; not enough gain. |
Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
i thought the z6 flowed better but the y8 makes for for compression...im probably wrong as usual though

Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
The head.. not the intake manifold..
The Z6 intake manifold flows better than the Y8, but, the Y8 has the largest plenum. So.. N/A == Y8.. FI == Z6 manifold wise.. |
Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
so basically if he swapped in the y8, he would want to keep his z6 head and manifold, if he was to go turbo that is
|
Re:d16z6 to d16y8?
Yes.. only because the Z6 distributor wouldn't fit his Y8 head.. otherwise he'd do this..
Y7 block.. Y8 head.. Z6 intake manifold.. Mucha compresión and flow. |
