Re: d16y5 turbo

Just swap the head to a y8.The y5 has the same pistons and rods as the y8.Also the ecu.

Re: d16y5 turbo

yeah, that's right.if i was you i would just get a jumper harness obd2-0bd1 for the ecu and run a p28.99-2000 civic obd2b 96-98 obd2a.

Re: d16y5 turbo

No z6 head, than you would have to repin the dizzy. My opinion z6 head is crap.If your dizzy goes out, only dizzy you can run is a z6.The y8 you can run any dizzy besides the z6.Straight bolt on.You can reuse your y5 dizzy on a y8 head, but not with a z6 or you can but you have to modify the crap.

Re: d16y5 turbo

Re: d16y5 turbo

From the looks of it your not to handy with the steelz if you know what I mean. Just keep the engine the way it is and swap the intake manifold and and run the EX ecu. I ran a Z6 block with a y5 head and it was fine boosted. Don't make ---- harder if you don't have to. If it ain't broken why fix it?

Well if you want run the y5 head, that's fine but in reality its a 12 valve head untill vtec kick in.If you want to go fast swap the head. The y8 head is a 16 valve head all the time.Just get a egr blocker. The p28 does not read a egr valve.

Re: d16y5 turbo

Don't bother swapping heads... Y8 head casting is the same as the y5. The difference lies in the cam and rocker assembly. Instead, swap to obd-1, and buy the parts to boost it.

Re: d16y5 turbo

you dont need any engine management to run obd2 turbo. the obd2 civics were fixed to read boost and add more fuel and the correct ignition changes because of the new and improved flux capacitor readings. your set dude keep the y5 head and boost it! :y
