D15 Rod Strength

Anyone know what they can handle (roughly)...

I just pulled my pistons out and was surprised at how thin they are..

lol...most people say about 220-230 hp, although some break earlier, some later

Thanks, im not going nuts with the engine but it just baffled my mind how rods that thin would be able to handle boost..haha

d series rods... what are those?

oh, those little push rod thingys... that move the valves..

i 'spect they hold about this much power (extends hands this big) ;)

Re:D15 Rod Strength

Mostly depends on tuning. Don't tune it right, there goes your engine. Look at BBKA, he's running 230 WHP on his stock Z6 right now.

if you took out the pistons, get new rods. if you don't have the $$$ for them then wait til you do. it'll suck to put everything back together and have a rod break later.

I dont really want to put the money into the D...i just want to have a boosted daily driver

it should be able to handle it right?...the engine was running perfectly before and there seems to be no wear on the bearings.

Re:D15 Rod Strength

Should be able to. Just don't get cocky with the boost.
