New ----......

QUESTION: All 1.6 D series share the same type of sleeves? Here´s the email raceeng sent me a few moments ago:

Nobody here, or at Darton knows if the M.I.D. kit will fit that D16A9 Jap
spec motor.. They work on all the U.S. spec D16 motors, but the Jap stuff
tends to change a lot. I really don't know if they are the same or not..

What do you guys think?

I have a DOHC ZC with 8.5-1 Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods running 15 PSI on the stock sleeves. It hits 15 PSI at about 5000 RPM and I shift at 8000. I have it tuned with TurboEdit.

But my block has to be done here cause it would cost a fortune to send it to US. So i guess the sleeves are the same in all 1.6 d series, lets go shopping then ...altough i would like to be sure that the sleeves will fit

btw, im looking to hit 20 psi´s if my turbo let me ...t3/t4 50/63..thats why i dont want stock sleeves

Benson's does speedy reputable sleeving. Probably the best in the market.

I know a lot of guys locally running the Darton flanged sleeves, $200-250 ish not including labor. That's what Wes has in his engine (recent CRX HF video pulling cars on the GSX-R 750). Rob's Civic (D16Z6 with GT28RS) has them. Evo Stevo's H22 has... I dunno, I'm thinking they don't offer flanged sleeves for closed deck H-series, but I can't remember. Stevo's not on the road yet, should be a week or two.

If you get them installed locally, beware. Wes' sleeves have sunk once, he decked the block and so far everything appears happy. Rob's sleeves sunk once, he had a local domestic guy who does race engines install them - David Ingram. Ingram was totally cool, warrantied the work promptly, and so far Rob's engine has been ****.

I think there's something to be said for cheapass epoxy at this point... and metal headgaskets for ZC were $$$ last I checked, but that was before Cometic came out with all theirs. I think it's another case of a D-series with too much ignition timing if 10 psi took her out.
