Upgradeability of the greddy kit makes it worthless, so even if you get it free your still getting ripped off lol. You can't do ---- with the manifold, the turbo is small, the downpipe is tiny, the fuel management sucks. Plus you still need an intercooler and bov.

You can build a better custom kit for the same price or less, so why wouldn't you want to do it?

and csaddict - i had no problem with your posts except for the claim that running 7 psi on my stock injectors would ---- up my motor. it may not be good, but hey, and you guys go ahead and flame me because i used the "G" word, i called Greddy when i purchased this used kit (with no instructions) and they told me the whole spiel on it. Greddy kits for '96-'99 cars are internally wastegated at 7 lbs supposedly, and thats on stock injectors. look, i think its cool that you came over to try and help people - thats awesome. but don't be a dick about it. don't post a bunch of stuff trying to help people over there, then run back here to your e-boys and start talking smack. that is classless.
When did I ever mention your Greddy purchase was wrong? I didn't. I tired to save you from hurting your motor. I don't have a problem with you or your questions. You said STOCK injectors. Thats a no no. FMU, of course it will work. Can't tune it for ---- but thats another issue. Still doesn't take ignition timing into consideration. The idiots over there is why I posted here. ITS FUNNY TO READ THE COMMENTS THEY MAKE!

I was trying to help you get the most from your money.......

I had fun with the greddy kit but everything you said here is true. This time around I have spent less than I originally had in teh greddy kit and I have chip burning hardware, laptop for tuning, bigger turbo and other things of that nature. I dont think I would recommend buying a greddy kit to anyone unless they were able to get it for a couple hundred

ABT - Coming to HMT as a noob and getting flamed, is kinda like getting "Jumped-In". If you survive getting "Flamed-In" here, then you are good to go for awhile. Welcome to HMT.

Pat - Holy ----! It's Pat! Welcome back!

Okay, I'm done.

HMT is definitely not for the weak thats why alot of noobs leave cause they can't take the abuse. However, intelligent questions are not flammed. The reason we say search so much is becuase we answered the same questions 600000000 times. We do our best to help people who first tired to help themselves. We're not here to spoon feed information, but help people out. Also your Greddy question wasn't in the FAQ cause this is homemadeturbo, we don't specialize in prebuilt turbo kits.

Also we do have a good FAQ on engine management, its says an FMU and stock injectors are good for 6 and under: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=14497.0

Welcome to HMT and always remember that Junkyard Racer is a ***.

When i look at all this, I agree with everyone's view. The way i see it is that you have to crawl before you can walk. Personally i would start small and be 5 psi, FMU and stock injectors and half *** piping to get used to a turbo. Next i would go the way of the hack and bigger injectors and of course better internals and more boost. Then i would better myself from the hack and go tuned ECU management. Crome, Uberdata, etc. I think the development in turbo understanding and tuning would be important and learn more as you go. For someone like me that is a true DIY, i need to learn all i can before i spend money and get the wrong ----.
