Custom Manifold
 

Hey guys... I was wondering where I could go to get a custom manifold for a Saturn. It is an 02 so there are really no companies that make the 9 bolt pattern (not that I would want them if even the old pattern fit). I don't need a crazy equal length runner system but I atleast wanted a ss header type manifold (not an offcentered log type). Any advice on who will make one and what I need to give them?

Honestly I bet nobody makes any manifolds for that new of a car. The fact that it’s a Saturn doesn’t really help either, I don’t think that many manufactures are going to see that as a large area of market for people who want to put turbo kits on their cars. (Maybe later, but probably not now)

You are pretty much going to have to take this project into your own hands and doing everything from scratch. Build your own manifold, find a properly sized turbo and do all your piping and management. It can be done, but on newer OBD2 cars, ---- is just getting tougher to do anything anymore. Fuel systems are becoming return less, making it difficult to add the extra fuel you need. OBD2 also monitors more things than you expect, you practically fart in some cars and the damn check engine light will throw an Evap code or some bullshit. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you will have MANY challenges ahead but it can be done! If you need any technical advice let me know, we are more than willing to help.

- a good start to get the manifold done is, first go buy the factory Exhaust manifold gasket. Then take it to a machine/metal/fab shop that has a mill or a CNC machine and get your Flange Plate done. Once that is done, you need to get a flange for whatever turbo you are using, whether it is T3/T25 etc. To create the manifold you are going to have to find someone who can do some fabrication work.

Believe it or not you are almost entirely right. There are a handful of companies that make manifolds but I really don't like them. one is the stock cast iron man. with a t3 flange welded pointing upwards at the bottom of the manifold, one is a crappy ass log style with very bad welds ect... the car doesn't have a fuel return line (stopped in 99 I believe), I planned on running extra injectors with bigger boost and controlling that and timing with an e-manage, I actually found today that some honda's also have 9 bolt patterns and someone said it would fit (even if it doesn't I am sure a little fab would be in order). I plan on doing 85% of the fabrication of the kit myself. There are a handful of kits but each one has benifits and drawbacks. I am probably going to look into that Honda manifold thing first.

they have pipping kits on ebay but before i get my turbo ima get the manifold done.

OK here is a concept that I wanna throw out there... what if I get a flange done so that even if the 9 bolt Honda flange is somewhat dif than my 9 bolt... I take my flange and have the runners from a Honda manifold welded to my flange (even if it requires some slight bending or rerouting)... has anyone ever done anything like that? How big a spacing dif could it actually be? They are both straight 4 engines... I already have a stock manifold gasket because I had purchased one before I got my header but my new header ended up coming with one anyways so I didn't need it. Maybe if I found a honda gasket I could tell the dif... anyone know where to get one cheap? It could even be used for all I care because it isn't like I am installing it.

um im sure it could be done but if you look at a b series manifold compared to a d series (both honda engines) theres a preaty big dif. i guess anything is wourth a shot before you buy anything id get a gasket from both engines and see how close or how far off they are.
