crx top speed
 

ok, 1990 CRX si with i/h/e. down a slight hill i hit the stock rev limiter (7200ish) in fifth gear. the speedo was buried. anyone have any idea how fast that might be?

I hit 112 in a 90 DX and about died.

I'd guess about 125, maybe less lol.

damn, 112? i hit 125 in my 90 dx and the speedo needle stopped moving(thats the highest mph on my speedo). im guessing i was doing about 130. being in vegas, i have access to LONG roads in the middle of the desert to do stupid ---- ;D. this was with my stock dx motor before i swapped it out(couldn't handle 92 hp anymore... :P). at the time, the only "mod" i had was an intake, and not even a cold air one... and NOTHING else. that was when i first bought the car, i was 16 and a dumbass just wanting to see how fast i could top my car out at...

7200 in 5th, its been awhile but Im pretty sure that puts you at 133-135.

Not bad. My 91si stock would only hit about 6500-6700 on level ground. 125-128

The boosted B16 w/LS tranny has been to an indicated (EDM cluster) 145 and was climbing fast.. ;D

Damn you better be having more then I/H/E, what about brakes/2x stiffer rear springs/real shocks/Z rated tires.....The CRX in stock form tends to "lift" over 100mph meaning the back end actually lightens up and floats. It makes it real easy for the back end to become the front.

I guess when you are young you dont really care about that...I did it too (125 in a ZC and a TALL hf 5th) Just wanted to say be carefull. God I cant beleive I actually wrote this I AM getting old

My ex had an HKS stage 3 Supra TT that I drove past the 150 mark, the scary thing about that is it still was pulling, and felt like it was doing about 80mph, damn rich girls, thing's probably wraped around a tree somewhere.

i hit 150 in my old vr4 with plenty of gear/power left, and 130 in my hatch because of the ------- limiter

I got going 120 in my stock 95 EX and that was good enough for me. I proly won't do it again without better tires and suspension. Plus it just takes way to long to get going that fast and I have things to do lol...

I think I hit about 140 or so in the FX. I was at 92 in third, past 110 in fourth, and I went to about 5200 in fifth. Little treads flew off my tires and I decided not to ---- around like that anymore. The speedo buries at ~120 and it took a few seconds for it to register anything again after I closed the throttle.

I've hit 140 in my EDM CRX a few times on level roads it hit it really easy....the car climbs to 140 pretty quick.
I bet it would go much higher, but damn that final drive...short 5th gear sucks a bit

I did 165mph in my 95 b16 civic 9000 rpm without the turbo, monitored by a gtec meter, but since there is no limit on the autobahn I did not have any reason to slow down, now I have the turbo, I go to 120mph and the engine over heats after 5 minutes.

VR-4s do 160mph bone stock with awd and only 12psi. imagine one with bigger turbos, worked heads, custom exhuast, and lots of other crap !!! I'll let know how it is, if I don't die trying..

I buried my 125mph speedo with D15B2, 89' dx with 75 shot shot for a long time. The motor died when I let off. about 20 senonds later it started and ran like crap. I drove about 2 miles and stopped to reset the ECU. The factory manifold was glowing in the dark !!! I could almost see though it !!!

Reset the ECU and drove home like a champ. Put 3 more bottles though the motor, it never died !!! 155K miles !!

140 in my gsx(it came up fast at 18psi), ~150mph in my turbo mr2(stock, quite scary). plenty of gearing left on both cars.

i raced a regular eclipse the other day on top end and i think his rev limiter went off like at 115-120 while my crx just kept pulling till redline...i love the fact that most 90's hondas, esp. crx's, dont have speed limiters...

at what rpms you guys noticed your high speeds? off the subject, but newer mustangs, and camaros aren't realy fast, I think they top out at 110mph, when I'm in doubt I take them to the autobahn, they they shake and rattle like they gonna flip at a 100mph, and then I get to talk ---- to the owners.

2002 Z-28's hit the speed limiter at 160mph, but the Trans-ams stop at 157mph, pretty slow for stock, huh..

My brother lightly modded LT-1 did 162mph with a 4-speed auto-tranny... Then we got pulled over !!!
