those headlights are monster.. makes it look sorta like the way the car would look had it been built in the mid to late 90's. I like the setup

and here's my boss's one... we got an event coming up soon where I've organised them to race head to head. The first one, ZC turbo and this one is B18 block/B16Vtec head, Turbo. They both make roughly the same power at the moment, but my boss spent like R150 000 (div. 6.34 for $) and the other dude spent R75000. Guess who I'm rooting for.. hahahahah. ;D

THose are some bad looking cars! Why the dual BOV setup?

PoorMansPorsche 04-01-2005 09:45 AM

Re: A CRX from South Africa

so with some math that tells me he spent near 24,000 thats a pretty insane amount to spend.

But remember economic systems work different. Just because something costs here $10 is going to cost there $10 in their own money, usually it is more. I don't know how hard it is to find parts in africa, but I'm sure you have to pay more than what we pay here, they probably don't have a perfomance shop in every corner like some of us do.

Yeah but then think about shipping....Ebay people are ripping you off already charging double or triple the item cost to make money, and a lot of us companies might not want to ship overseas or charge an arm and a leg. Still it is a lot of money, but they look like both race and show cars so I can understand the $20k+ price tag.

Is that really the guy who drives that car in the third pic? Those cars are both sick, just a little bit ricey though.

Re: A CRX from South Africa

just a qicki what is a zc is it a d or a b and are they better for boosting than others

davcivic 04-02-2005 02:12 AM

Re: A CRX from South Africa

it's a different monster. It's the engine code used in japan for some engines we don't get in the US. There's a SOHC ZC, which is similar to a d16a6, there's a DOHC ZC, a black top and a brown top, similar to the first gen integra d16's, and there's a SOHC Vtec ZC, similar to the D16Z6. I think that's all they have, maybe there's one more.

They are good torquey engines that drop in and plug into the 4g civic.

Re: A CRX from South Africa

so if i have a uk crx with a zc black top is it a dohc b16 then and are they better for boosting than any other 1600

davcivic 04-02-2005 01:04 PM

Re: A CRX from South Africa

no zc are part of the d series family, the b16 is a different engine.
as far as better for boosting either one is fine.

Re: A CRX from South Africa

south africa is like owned by the british or some ---- like that. dave matthews grew up in south africa. it's the norm for it to be the white capitol of of an african american country.

dean 04-02-2005 02:14 PM

Re: A CRX from South Africa

yeah i own south africa
cheers ppl its that hard .thers that many engines for the hondas

Franknstein 04-04-2005 12:42 AM

Re: A CRX from South Africa

Yeah, I agree, both really nice cars. There are more black people in SA by FAR!... Ratio is about 12:1. But racing events are usually held in the older Afrikaans areas, so we don't see too many black faces. SA used to be british owned, but we became independent in the 50's I think (dont quote me on that, I sucked at history).

About the money thing.... It's a bitch! Cos The shipping charges are usually more than the part! Then it's import duties and taxes, and exchange rate of 6:1 (we pay Six Rand for 1 Dollar).... and you're right, not many tuning shops, and pretty much everything is imported (we have a couple of locally made dumpvalves and wastegates).

The twin BOV setup.... beats me, everytime I ask him he avoids answering.... ???

Anyways, I'll let you guys know who wins.
