crx door compatibility?
I have a 88hf. i need a drivers side door. i found one but it has the seatbelt mounted on the door instead of the chassis(which mine does) will the 90-91 door fit on my 88hf?

Re:crx door compatibility?
no..its shorter.

Re:crx door compatibility?
thanks for the reply. but which one is shorter?
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
90-91
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
Yes, the 90-91 doors will fit the 88-89, however the door mounted seat belts are homo, and the moldings on the 90-91 are thinner, you cant even swap the 88-89 moldings over.
Also, what makes the 88's so light is the fact the doors are lighter, they dont have nearly as beefy support beams in it like the 89-91's. |
Re:crx door compatibility?
cool. thanks guys.
so any one have a window roller mechanism? i have a window just not door inards. yeah steve, ill post in the wtb forum too. |
Re:crx door compatibility?
less support beams means less safety :-\

Re:crx door compatibility?
that whole seat belt mounting thing kicks my ass, I have a broken window in my good 88, and a good window in my fucked up 90 and I can't swap it over.

Re:crx door compatibility?
Just becarful if you decide you want to remove that "support beam" because you can easily ---- up a mint door like beau did on his race car, lol =)

Re:crx door compatibility?

Re:crx door compatibility?
find a Canadian door, all 88-91 canadian doors are car mounted belts ;)

Re:crx door compatibility?
I prefer the door mounted seatbelt, myself. Except for their habit of not winding all the way and punching a hole through the door panel.
I replied to your WTB post. |

I replied to your WTB post. I'd much rather have safety over a 100th of a second in 1/4 mile. |
Re:crx door compatibility?
i went ahead and bought the doors that have door mounted seatbelts. i like having the extra protection of the imapct beam, and the seatbelts arent that hard to take off.

Re:crx door compatibility?
just use the door mounted doors on the 88 and use your regular pillar belts. Have the safety of the 90-91 doors and you loss the annoying door belts :P
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
heres another one..
My 89 has door mounted belts, and I scored some 88 doors for cheap the same color as my car! now I really want to use them because my doors are rotted bad (one has a hole in it) and these are pretty mint. Will pillar mounted belts just bolt into my car? Where the hell am i gonan find em? Should I just get a c-pillar suspension bar and mount 4pts to it and call it a day? |
Re:crx door compatibility?
I would think that they would just bolt right in but the trim would have to be cut, left off ot just find new ones.
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
can't you just put the door mounted seat belts 'n stuff onto the 88 doors? I think someone I met did that, since you have both handy, I'd look into it.
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
hrm.. ya i may try that as well.
|
Re:crx door compatibility?
I've got the passenger side interior peice that the seatbelt goes through (with the hole for mounting) for sale if you want it. It's blue.
