they wouldnt let my dad into canada a year or two back because he had a dui on his record from when he was like 19. he never ended up doing anything about it, but i remember he said something about paying some kind of fee to get past it.

I have gotten through with just request for ID.

They just ask for ID, we all had it. Asked us what we were doing in CA, and let us go through.

Since it's just the most panzy ass socialist society anyway, just offer to pay a tax. ----, you can't even get your own mail in Canada without paying a tax, and their country doesn't have anything to do with the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (the people who deliver that ---- anyway) What a scam

Re: crossing into canada with criminal offenses?

I was actually deported from canada about 2 years ago. They held me at the border and I had to talk to customs from canada and the US, etc.. etc.. basically about 4 hours of my life wasted, then they finally deported me after telling me they could put me in a canadian jail for a year if they wanted to.

Either way, if you look like trouble, they will run your ---- and they will find your record and they wont let you come in. And if they ask you if you've been arrested and you lie, then they find out you have... they get very upset. And you are in a foreign country, illegally, and they do have the ability to put you in jail. So dont piss them off.

From what I've read about you, I wouldnt recommend you try to cross the border :)

It's a duty, it's there to protect the industry. Otherwise everyone would just import everything instead of buying from Canadian companies. Learned that in Economics 100 ;D

They lied to you. It's not a duty, it's a tax. It's there for the government to nickel and dime you to death so they have more control over your life.

Now THAT'S an economics lesson. ;)

Actually a tax is the same thing as a duty. They impose it to protect the inefficiencies on our Canadian Industries. But the Americans imposes such duties on our exports as well to protect their inefficiencies/competitive disadvantages.

actually, this is america, who gives a ----,

The bottom line is they impose it to put the money in thier pockets. They give you an excuse on why they do it, and then they laugh with thier government friends while they're playing golf.

Actually its more than just putting money in their pockets. Say if such duties or taxes did not exist. In the short run, this would expose the Canadian Industries inefficiencies. The american (or whatever country) would dominate the industry by using their competitive advantages. Thus, putting Canadians out of work. The government does not want to do this because then they obviously would not get re-elected.

Wait, so they take your taxes to get your own mail so that you'll have a job, so that you can pay them income taxes so that you can re-elect them?

Wow, that's fucked.

damn thast deep :o

Canada has some fucked up principles....not to mention they are french...

BTW: WTF is a OUI? Did you really mean DUI?

Cray91 03-08-2005 10:10 PM

Re: crossing into canada with criminal offenses?

Different states have a different term for it.

OUI- Operating under the influence
DUI- Driving under the influence
DWI- Driving while intoxicated

My brother is in cop school, he told me what the slight differences are, but you are fucked with any of them.

Re: crossing into canada with criminal offenses?

you can get an oui with riding a bike, tractors, anything that you can operate and kill someone. thats how they see it here in nebraska. The bike thing is kinda fucked up but if you were that drunk I don't think that you could even ride a bike
